A story in 4 parts:
- RW politicians/influencers stoke fear about LGBTQ people, calling us groomers/pedophiles
- News agencies launder the talking points, "legitimizing" fear
- Someone believes them; decides to kill us
- RW politician feigns empathy while we're left to grieve
OFFICIAL COMPETITION is the funniest film I've seen this year & does as best as it can be as a satire about self-serious film artists. The performances from our trio is great along with the surprisingly beautiful cinematography and sound design. I wanted more silliness though.
@LyndaObst But the point is that her op-ed did not come close to rising to the extremely high bar of actual malice. Why couldn’t Depp write his own op-ed instead of using his unending $ & popularity to shut down the narrative - that there was allegedly abuse by both?
I’m sure I’m not the first to suggest it but I think “Hello, He Lied” by @LyndaObst is great source material for a hilarious and inspiring feature film, are the rights available?
@LauraRFennell Yes and the way Depp’s team is twisting the narrative to make it seem like he is the survivor of abuse and that she mocked the concept of male survivors is infuriating
