This is exactly the mindset that got United into this mess and INEOS are trying to clean up the mess.

Ed Woodward wasn’t particularly building a football team, he was collecting expensive names without proper structure.

We spent huge money on players like Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku, Jadon Sancho, Angel Di Maria and Alexis Sanchez. On paper, they looked like statement signings but in reality, they never became a functional team because there was no long-term football plan.

The best teams aren’t built by winning every transfer. They’re built by signing the right profiles that complement each other and fit the manager’s system. That’s how sustainable success is created.

Yes, we need to improve the squad, and fans are right to expect ambition. But ambition isn’t measured by spending the most. It’s measured by sticking to a clear recruitment strategy, refusing to be held to ransom and builds a balanced squad instead of chasing luxury signings.

We’ve seen where the old approach got us. I’d rather stick with the same approach that gave us the best summer we’ve had in a very long time last season.
