Dr. Abhilaksh Likhi, Secretary (Fisheries), Department of Fisheries, Government of India, chaired a review meeting on 24th October 2025 with all States and Union Territories on the mapping of fisheries infrastructure assets in the PM Gati Shakti Portal.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from State Governments/UTs, Department of Fisheries, GoI, DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and BISAG-N.
During the session, States and UTs were urged to expedite the mapping of fisheries infrastructure assets to strengthen planning, monitoring, and development of the fisheries sector under the PM Gati Shakti framework.
Dr. Abhilaksh Likhi, Secretary, Department of Fisheries, Government of India, chaired a meeting to strategize a Communication Plan for disseminating information on various fisheries schemes and programmes.
During the meeting, Secretary Dr. Likhi urged all stakeholders to actively contribute towards developing an effective strategy to reach the last-mile fishermen and fish farmers. He emphasized the importance of outreach and the need for active participation in the dissemination of fisheries-related information for the benefit of the fishers.
A detailed presentation on the proposed Communication Plan was given by the Department of Fisheries, Government of India. The meeting was attended by senior officers from State and UT Fisheries Departments, the National Fisheries Development Board, ICAR-Fisheries Institutes, Fisheries Universities and Colleges, Subordinate Offices of the Department of Fisheries, and other stakeholders.

Shri Sagar Mehra, @JSFisheries JS chaired the #webinar on Strengthening ‘’Startups in Fisheries” organized by MANAGE-M-FISH. More than 100 participants joined over VC. He emphasized the role of Fisheries Startups in revolutionizing India’s fisheries sector by fostering innovation, sustainability, and inclusivity and highlighted the benefits under FIDF, PMMSY, PMKSSY & DoF Fisheries Startup Grand Challenge.
Dr. Abhilaksh Likhi, @likhi_dr, Secretary, Department of Fisheries (DoF), GoI, chaired a feedback session through VC with fishermen, fisheries cooperatives, and associations from Bihar, which witnessed active participation of more than 200 fishers from 38 districts.
The fishermen highlighted key issues such as the need for cold storage facilities to preserve catch, the establishment of dedicated fish markets, a processing plant for Pangasius and Tilapia, training and capacity-building programs, the provision of solar lights, and insurance coverage.
The Union Secretary also highlighted the benefits of the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) scheme and emphasized the importance of an outreach campaign to raise awareness of the scheme, particularly under PM-MKSSY.

They also emphasized the need for integrating solar energy solutions to address the high electricity demands of trout farming.
