@ref39489@tivstippi I called it misgendering because it literally is by definition and misgendering is bad on principle. But sure go through whatever hoops you need to go through to justify ignoring people's pronouns, hope it's worth it
@ref39489@tivstippi The comparison doesn't work because misgendering is fundamentally against the concept of gender self-determination. It's anti-gender-autonomy language, inherently. There is zero equivalent to this with race because there's no race self-determination to attack
@ref39489@tivstippi Thinking that this or that situation gives you free pass to ignore people's stated pronouns means you don't respect gender autonomy and expression *as a concept*. They are inherently at odds, regardless of who the target of your misgendering is.
@ref39489@tivstippi In fact it's bad.
Cis people can be gender non-conforming or in the closet, their mode of gender expression should be respected.
You're coming here with this "misgendering people is fine in this situation I decided" like others won't use that thinking against vulnerable people
@_eerdemir I'm sorry, I admit I got too annoyed. Just seen professionals giving career advice being blamed for the state of the industry a bit too much these days. I'll delete, I hope your project goes well.
@twumblunni@alex_andravt I'm not saying it's a new thing, you can do it without AI! But no you don't use magenta checkerboard, you use something that blends in and looks suitably close to what you're going for, so you can properly assemble and light the scene
@NotFuji_ People choose to work in AAA because they're passionate about art, but also to make a living. It's a job that's full of compromises. Sometimes you have to put all your skills into making things you don't like. You pursue the career knowing that it's also a part of the job
@NotFuji_ No one sets out to make bad art. I think AAA games are full of artistry and craftsmanship in every prop, character, every corner. They are modern cathedrals in the amount of work they involve. But they can also fall short as a whole and that's a different definition of "good art"
@NotFuji_ Good art is subjective, lots of people find little artistic value in AAA. But the original post isn't about what's good for art or the industry, it's career advice for people who already understand there are issues and still want to pursue this as a job
