Despite losing deposits in all the constituencies they contested, a few Naam Tamilar Katchi candidates in Salem have come up with an environment-focused initiative by deciding to plant saplings matching the number of votes they secured in the elections.

NTK candidates polled a total of 77,596 votes across all 11 constituencies in Salem district.

Edappadi candidate A. Priyadharshini, who secured 8,450 votes, Salem West candidate R. Sureshkumar with 6,820 votes, and Salem North candidate M. Gunaseela with 6,450 votes, have now decided to plant saplings matching their respective vote counts, saying elections may be over, but their connection with the people and constituency will continue.

A minor girl studying at Dharmambal Polytechnic College in Taramani, Chennai, was gang raped by seven people near the college campus.

When the student informed the college about the incident, the college administration immediately issued a Transfer Certificate (TC) and expelled her from the institution.

Allegedly the College has blamed the girl for going to meet her boyfriend who inturn made use of the opportunity to rob her and gang rape her. Two female friends who accompanied her are also given TC . The gang rape victim was not given medical or legal aid.

SFI (Students' Federation of India) and other student organizations are protesting on behalf of the girl. By issuing a TC and sending the victim away, the college has inflicted the maximum cruelty on the girl who was already affected by the assault.

They are also ensuring that the news doesn’t come out. What kind of nonsense is this?
