#ScaryMovie is a fine, extremely meta return to the horror spoof franchise for the Wayans brothers that harkens back to the spirit of earlier installments but the end result is a grab bag of references with nothing fresh and very few funny to say about the genre. 5.5/10.

Football? How about soccer? 4-1 over Paraguay, and totally dominant from a @USMNT golden generation realizing their full potential by inheriting a lot of the strong traits of Poch's old sides -- high pressing, slick passing, great off-the-ball work and clinical finishing.

#DisclosureDay is a rousing, old-fashioned alien conspiracy epic that reaffirms Steven Spielberg's status as the master of summer blockbuster entertainment, replete with the classic Spielbergian spectacle, good heart and a career-best Emily Blunt performance. 8.5/10.

#Colony is a reasonably diverting addition to Yeon Sang Ho's zombie horror ouevre filled with tons of exciting popcorn action and some interesting ideas but it is too derivative of its genre counterparts from the East and the West to ever become its own thing. 6.5/10.

#Backrooms is not only an assured feature-length directorial debut from Kane Parsons, but it also sets the new gold standard for creepypasta adaptations that is as batshit crazy as it is viscerally effective in conveying the cosmic terror of liminal spaces. 9/10.

#MonsterPabrikRambut is a big, bold swing for the fences that feels like a breath of fresh air within the Indonesian supernatural horror space in the manner in which it blends A24-style, arthouse-y scares with its surprisingly trenchant commentary on labor exploitation. 8/10.

#MastersoftheUniverse is a solidly fun and entertaining sword and sorcery romp that is unafraid to fully embrace the Mattel-based source material's Saturday Morning cartoon, toyetic roots despite the bloated runtime and too often scattershot approach to humor. 7/10.

#ChildrenofHeaven is a solid Indonesian-language remake that might be too slavishly devoted to its 1997 Iranian counterpart to ever set itself apart, but it still more than justifies its existence through the sheer heart and charm of its two well-cast young leads. 7.5/10.
