How they treated Sylvie throughout S2 was what western media (and esp Marvel) always does. No matter how strong, smart or heroic women are written, they are always an extension of “the hero.” An inspiration, a reason, an opposing force. But an extension, not a synthesis.
Well, yeah, because when it’s romance at the core of the story it’s “fan dreams” but when it’s wish fulfillment for the fan boys tangential to the plot it’s “We really wanted to give the fans something fun/fulfill that childhood nostalgia🤓.”
one thing that still bothers me is kevin wright’s comments about how they didn’t want to force ”fan dreams” of seeing loki & sylvie happy together.
how would that be just a forced fan dream when they literally set it up in season 1 as a possible future for them? I DON’T GET IT.
To be honest, I think they’re goofs, but I personally don’t have energy to be mad anymore. They only have one lens through which to view media and that probably won’t change (without serious reprogramming).
@MarieCGould Knowing this makes me feel a little more justified in noticing that there were so many things that didn’t add up in relation to OB. I am absolutely fine with OB just being OB. But there were so many little things (whether plot, theme, or camerawork) that…
I will probably be deleting this account soon. Thank you all for some wonderful memories.🙏 You can find me on the cloud app with the same handle, all one word.
@black_tym Ohhhhh. I picked up that they were a foil for Loki/Sylvie and the thematic elements but I didn’t even think about that line to Miss Minutes! Makes perfect sense!
@black_tym Just wondering, where did they almost confirm Ravonna as a variant? I thought several arrows were pointing in that direction, but did I miss something in particular?
@black_tym And that if there have already been multiple HWR’s fulfilling the cycle (taking control, killing the others, dying, branching again, taking control, etc), it might explain why OB escaped undetected. Because he was eventually forgotten.
@black_tym My main one currently is that Orobouros partially represents the Bootstrap Paradox, and that he’s a Kang variant either hiding in plain sight or else one that the former HWR needed.
