We have completed an uncompromising fact-finding inquiry into the shocking events of 18 January 2026 (Mauni Amavasya) during the Prayagraj Magh Mela.

Our inquiry reveals that the obstruction of the traditional palki procession of the Jyotirmath Sankaracharya Ji by the administration and police; the public humiliation of the Sankaracharya Ji; the brutal assault on his followers; the degrading treatment of innocent Veda Vidyarthis (Batuks), including dragging them by their shikhas; and preventing Jyotirmath Sankaracharya Ji from taking the sacred Ganga snan on one of Hindu Dharma’s holiest occasions were not isolated administrative excesses.

They amounted to a direct assault on Hindu religious dignity, autonomy, and civilisational continuity.

This was not crowd management.

This was organised State action against a 2,500-year-old Hindu religious institution.

What followed was even more alarming: fabricated criminal cases, including POCSO allegations; questioning the legitimacy of the Sankaracharya institution itself; and a systematic attempt to weaken one of the most sacred pillars of Hindu civilisation.

Our report irrefutably documents a coordinated and pre-planned abuse of State power directed against Jyotirmath Sankaracharya Ji.

The report further exposes a deeper constitutional distortion — relentless State interference in Hindu temples, maths, traditions, and institutions, while Christian and Muslim religious institutions remain substantially insulated from comparable State control.

This is not secularism.

This is selective State control over Hindu religion.

We therefore strongly recommend the creation of an independent statutory Uttar Pradesh Hindu Dharma Parishad, chaired by the Jyotirmath Sankaracharya Ji and comprising representatives of traditional Hindu institutions across sampradayas, to end bureaucratic and political interference in Hindu religious affairs and restore Hindu religious autonomy.

On 12 May 2026, we released this report in Kashi — the eternal civilisational and spiritual centre of Sanatana Dharma (Hindutva) — before a distinguished gathering of more than 100 eminent citizens.

Kashi was consciously chosen because this issue goes far beyond Prayagraj. It concerns the growing encroachment of the secular State into Hindu religious life and the future of Hindu institutions themselves.

Silence today will only legitimise deeper State intrusion into Hindu religious life tomorrow.

This is not merely about one procession, one mela, or one Sankaracharya Ji.

This concerns the civilisational future and survival of Hindus themselves.
