No James Connor. Expect a similar 80% snap share that Benson got once Conner went down last game.

Benson has had a great pre season and was hyped up a lot prior to his rookie season which was fairly quiet. Has had a great start in the RB2 role with some splash plays in both receiving and rushing game, and I’m anticipating a nice performance in his first game with full usage here.

Turning on the tape, you can see how well Benson runs. Here are his ranks compared to other RBs with 15+ Attempts (48 in the sample):

• 3rd highest YAC/Attempt
• 4th in YPC in Man/Gap Concept
• 5th in Explosive Rush Rate (10+ Yds)
• 5th in Yards Over Expectation/Attempt

He is also very active in the receiving game with 2.7 Targets per game on less than 50% snaps with Connor in the mix for 2.5 of the 3 games. We can expect that to go up here. Arizona has had the 6th highest target-rate to routes out of the backfield so with more routes, I expect more chances to catch the ball and run into space.

As far as the matchup goes, we can start with the rushing side. Arizona does NOT utilize zone rushes. In non-zone rushes, Seattle allowed the 3rd highest explosive rush rate in 2024 to go along with 6th most YPC allowed.

There has been a lot of talk about how good Seattle has been against the run. I am not saying there is not any merit to that idea, but I think it is too early to stamp them a rushing defense to be afraid of just yet when the only 2 teams that they have faced are the Saints, who rank 10th worst in non-zone rushing YPC this season, and the 49ers who rank 3rd worst.

On the receiving side, we get some real upside here. CMC went for 10 targets and 73 receiving yards. Jaylen Warren went for 4 targets and 86 yards. They are allowing the 2nd most receptions and most yards to RBs this season.

But that is a small sample size, what about last season under the same defensive coordinator? 10th most receiving yards and 13/L15 running backs with 3+ targets to get 20+ receiving yards and the 2 that didn't were backups where the starter actually soared over anyways. 7 of those 15 had 30+ yards. 5 of them ahd 40+.
