@cgisydney @MEAIndia @HCICanberra - Is it true that consular services in Canberra are better than Sydney ? I heard from staff at @cgisydney that Indian passport renewals are faster in Canberra over Sydney and you don't have to wait for more than 12 weeks.

More than 3 months since I applied for the passport renewal at Sydney through VFS - long time before the VFS chaos. Exact date 14 Apr. Is this a joke? What is point of consular services when then cannot manage the basic services?

CONSULAR / PASSPORT SERVICES:

Dear Applicant,

As VFS (the only outsourcing agent) is not in a position to engage with applications since 1st July 2026, in order to improve the service delivery and to expedite processing of consular/passport and related applications, applicants who are in an emergent situation to avail the services may kindly fill-in the form (link given below). This is will be applicable for applications submitted or completed on or before 30th June 2026.

Due to overwhelming number of email enquiries, sending the details over the FORM would help to clear the applications but over email.

By way of helping each other to expedite the process, please send your details only in the form (link given), only if it is beyond the prescribed processing time limit. For example (Average):
Fresh Passport - 8 weeks;
Reissue/renewal of Passport- 8 weeks;
Reissue of Passport (in lieu of lost or damaged passport)- 8 weeks to 16 weeks;
PCC- 4 weeks;
Surrender Certificate- 3 weeks;
Other passport related service- 4 weeks;

Processing times mentioned do not include transit time by post/courier.

Visited @cgisydney office today and got to know that from the staff that passport renewal application received on 15 April was only picked up on 4 July for processing. Very poor service. @MEAIndia please request you to please look into this.
