Burqas were freely allowed in the same college, but even a small tilak on a Hindu student’s forehead was intolerable.

After Bajrang Dal protested, she was suspended.

Meet Deepchand Singh and Uday Singh, two brave Indian soldiers who fought fearlessly during the 1999 Kargil War, playing a crucial role in defeating the Pakistani Army under some of the most challenging battlefield conditions. They returned home as heroes, but the war changed their lives forever.

Deepchand Singh, who served in a missile regiment, recalled that for nearly 60 days the Indian Army relentlessly pushed back Pakistani forces in the mountains of Kargil, refusing to stop until victory was secured. During the intense fighting, an artillery shell exploded near him, leaving him critically injured. His survival was considered almost impossible. In the line of duty, he lost both his legs and one arm while defending the nation.

Uday Singh was also deployed in the Kargil War, serving in the strategically vital **Tiger Hill** sector—one of the fiercest and most decisive battlefields of the conflict. As he and his fellow soldiers climbed the steep slopes toward enemy positions, Pakistani troops opened heavy fire. More than ten of his comrades were killed in the attack.

Despite the devastating losses, Uday Singh continued to fight with extraordinary courage. He helped eliminate several enemy soldiers and saved the lives of many of his fellow troops. But the battle came at a heartbreaking price—he lost both of his legs.

These brave warriors sacrificed their limbs, but never their spirit.

Their courage reminds us that the freedom we enjoy today was earned through extraordinary sacrifice by soldiers who placed the nation above their own lives.

Today, Deepchand Singh and Uday Singh continue to inspire generations of young Indians, proving that true heroes are defined not by what they lose, but by what they stand for.
