Last week 3,114 metric tons of humanitarian aid reached approximately 300,000 people in Sudan. But 25 million people face acute hunger and risk as of famine and more needs to be done to help frontline partners surge. The ALPS Group will continue to push for the scaling up of assistance and bring pressure on the warring parties to end the violence.

Yesterday, @USAmbUN and I hosted a briefing at @USUN about U.S.-led talks on the peace process in Sudan and the ALPS Group’s ongoing work to expand humanitarian access routes, strengthen protection of civilians, and work toward a lasting peace. The humanitarian crisis in Sudan grows more dire by the moment. We invite partners around the world to join us in our urgent efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people and bring an end to the violence.

I just had another productive call with the Arab League’s Assistant Secretary General Hossam Zaki. The Arab League continues to be a key partner in contributing to efforts to address the crisis in Sudan. Its recent Ministerial meetings have helped to spur greater action from across the region. The U.S. is grateful for the Arab League's continued collaboration for peace in Sudan and stability in the region.

I extend my condolences to those that have lost loved ones or been displaced due to the recent collapse of Aarbat Dam. With the fragility of so much vital civilian infrastructure, we reiterate calls on the Rapid Support Forces and the Sudanese Armed Forces to provide protections for the restoration of security, health care, and infrastructure.

We began day 3 of our work in Switzerland on the Sudan crisis. The opening of Adre border crossing is an important result at a crucial time for humanitarian efforts to deliver assistance to those most in need and to avoid a worsening famine. We continue our efforts to save Sudanese lives and silence the guns. The RSF remains here ready for talks to start; SAF needs to decide to come.
