We are committed to spurring life-changing development in counties, and today, I presided over a ceremony that set the stage for the construction of a cotton ginnery in Bahari Ward, Lamu County.
The ginnery, established by Thika Clothing Factory, will boost cotton uptake, thereby increasing farmers' incomes, creating jobs, and providing raw materials for the textile industry.
As part of the initiative, 80,000 cotton seeds will be distributed to farmers to support increased production and sustainability in the sector.
With infrastructure supporting exports, including a special economic zone, Lamu Port, and LAPSSET, Lamu is set to become a hub for investors in the region.
We were joined by Lamu Governor Issa Timamy, @UKinKenya Deputy High Commissioner to Kenya Ed Barnett, Investment PS @PSAhassan, Lamu Senator Joseph Githuku.
