Lobbied for by 2 metastatic breast cancer patients, funded by @CancerFocusNI & work carried out by dedicated team @NICanReg.
Proud to be coauthor of this research & 💔 Julie isn't alive to see NI amongst 1st in 🌎 to count MBC patients!
Sue was diagnosed with de novo #MetastaticBreastCancer after months of bone pain and fatigue. De novo metastatic breast cancer isn't recognized in awareness campaigns and people have little idea that you can get stage 4 cancer without ever being diagnosed with a primary breast cancer. Around 5% of breast cancer patients have de novo disease at diagnosis but this is rarely spoken about.

1/10 METUPUK welcomes the report from the Lancet about metastatic (secondary) breast cancer inequalities. Finally there is focus on our disease but even though recent improvements in breast cancer survival represent a great success of modern medicine,
