Today has been insightful.
We've learned much more about “Number 10 North.”

What I don't buy is the idea this has all come together in a matter of days or weeks. A move like this takes months of planning, preparation and logistics.

It also makes you wonder why Andy Burnham faced so little opposition in the leadership race.

I’ve had enough.

Today I am writing to the Prime Minister.

Every day, small boats carrying people across the Channel continue to arrive on our shores, and this Government appears unable to bring the situation under control. Meanwhile, the cost falls on the British taxpayer through accommodation, processing and public services, while many hardworking people feel they are being pushed further down the list of priorities.

As the owner of a small business for 24 years, a property professional and an elected Councillor, for the first time ever I cannot afford to give my staff a pay rise without putting my business at risk.

Rising National Living Wage costs, increases to employer National Insurance and an ever-growing burden of employment legislation have added around 28% to our costs just to stand still.

We simply cannot increase our prices enough to absorb these costs, and our profits certainly haven’t risen to match.

99.2% of UK businesses are small businesses. We are the backbone of our economy, yet many of us now feel we are being asked to carry an ever-increasing burden while struggling just to survive.

I am deeply concerned about the direction this country is taking.

I am not happy.

And I know I am far from alone.

A source told The Sun: "It happened at about 3.40pm. I was coming up from Tower with my passengers when I heard a call that a person had been reported in the water at Cringle Dock, Battersea.

"Then I moved towards Westminster Pier and I was near the arches when I saw the lifeboat going at about 35 knots followed by the police boat. I believe there were five officers on it. The police boat seemed to go towards a buttress on his left.

"But as he went underneath the bridge he’s gone right over to his right side and the boat hit the right side of the bridge. There was an almighty bang – I think one of the tanks popped on the boat.

"The next thing there were three casualties in the river – fortunately their life jackets had deployed and they floated past Westminster Pier. Two other boats nearby picked up the casualties. They’ve now evacuated the pier.

"The two officers being treated lying down both seem to be conscious but in a lot of pain"

The Met Police said: "At around 15:40hrs on Friday, 24 July, a boat from the Met’s Marine Policing Unit struck Westminster Bridge.

"A number of officers entered the water, but were recovered.

"Additional officers responded alongside the London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade.

"We understand five officers were injured and are receiving treatment. We await an update on the extent of their injuries.

"At this stage, we don’t believe any members of the public were involved or injured.

"The circumstances of the incident will be thoroughly reviewed, but at this stage our priority is the wellbeing of the officers involved"
