इस महीने की शुरुआत में गिरफ्तार किए गए जैश-ए-मोहम्मद के 8 सदस्यों से पूछताछ के दौरान इन 5 लोगों के नाम सामने आए थे। ये लोग एक स्थानीय मस्जिद में जुटे थे. यहां ये IED बनाना सीख रहे थे और उसका एक सफल परीक्षण भी किया था यानी बम धमाका करके भी देखा था।

आरोपियों से पूछताछ के दौरान पता चला है कि ये लोग जामिया अबुल हसन मदरसा में रह रहे थे. यही नहीं 2023 के बाद से ही ये लगातार बम बनाने की तैयारी में जुटे थे।

इस मॉड्यूल को एक बुकलेट भी मुहैया कराई गई थी. इस बुकलेट का शीर्षक था- अकेला मुजाहिद जिहाद कैसे करे। ये मदरसा कौम पूरी तरह से जिहाद में लिप्त है और इनका एजेंडा स्पष्ट है- देश की बर्बादी। मजबूत सुरक्षा एजेंसियों के चलने इनके इरादे सफल नहीं हो पा रहे हैं।

Okay, let's talk about today. There are already established platforms for student protests in places like Jharkhand, Kerala, and Punjab against the education system. Did you protest there? Govt school inspections are not a bad thing, but when schools are turned into political stages, it shows the intent behind such visits.

Hello @ShashiTharoor , unlike you, I am no expert on Keralam but the role of Gulf expats, especially from Saudi Arabia, in the radicalisation of Muslims in "God's Own Country" has been glaringly obvious to even casual observers. Travelling with my mother, we both occupied the lower berths for our overnight train journey to Amdavad. Two upper berths were occupied by two women travelling alone. Later that night a female railway police officer checked on them. I wasn’t sure why they did that; I thought these women might be known to them or someone important. Early morning, before the train arrived at its final destination, one male and one female officer showed up with a passenger list and checked only those two ladies: “Ma’am, aapko yatra mein koi takleef to nahi hui? Hum railway police se hain aur yeh sunishchit karna chahte hain mahila passengers feel safe travelling alone in the Indian Railway.”

I have been pursuing this Political and Business Bucanneer for the past 15 years over a case of open and shut fraud

As telecom minister Maran, the bucanneer, installing a 1000 line secret Telephone exchange case in his home in the name of the Regional Manager of BSNL unknown to the system was a famous expose by me in the New Indian Express in 2010

He was using it for uplinking Sun TV progs and benefitting hundreds of crores. The secret phones were also national security breach as they could make any call to anyone without being monitored. At that time the DMK was in love relation with the biggest national security risk the LTTE

But the buccaneer with his money political power and media power delayed a case which could he completed in months by a decade

This is the 7th time the buccaneer telecom minister went to the supreme court to quash and/or delay the CBI probe into the fraud exposed in 2010

The case was investigated in 2007 by an honest inspector of CBI who used to go by scooter from Beasant Nagar to Shastry Bhavan in Chennai. He risked his life and asked for permission to file FIR.

But the UPA govt of which the DMK was a constituent prevented the CBI from registering FIR

I had to file a writ in Supreme court in 2014 to direct the CBI to file FIR

The buccaneer went to the High coourt and then to Supreme Court and almost got the case quashed with the then Attorney General almost colluding with them

The AG who had given opinion to govt that the secret phones were in breach of national security conceded in the court contrary to it

I had to write a scathing article to expose the Attorney

During the hearing then CJI even said it is after all 1.72 cr cable laying expenses and that can be paid by Marans and the case closed.

Then I wrote an article saying that it is not a case of cable laying expenses but secret telephone exchange of over 1000 lines installed at the ministers home and used for uplinking Sun TV progs (for which a secret cable laid at a cost of 1..72 cr) the benefit in which would be hundreds of crores

I also reminder the Supreme court that just months before the court had confirmed sentence on a clerk for accepting a bribe of Rs 265 declaring that corruption should not be tolerated

I wrote that if a clerk has to go jail for a bibe of rs 265 the higher the stature of the corrupt greater should be the punishment

That attempt to quash the case failed and the charges were framed.

Then a pliable trial court first discharged them.

I scathingly attacked the trial court order as perverse

The Madras High court set aside the perverse order and the buccaneer minister went to the supreme court.

The supreme court asked them to face the trial

They delayed the trial by several years and now the trial is over and all witnesses had been examined.

Then the buccaneer began another round of litigation to delay the trial by getting Madras HC to order that the present telecom secy be summoned as court witness .. an absolutely untenable order

The CBI came in appeal to the SC against that order and shockingly the AG who appeared for the CBI earlier appeared for the buccaneer!

Then in a detailed article the OpIndia recounted the whole case from the start and the role of the then AG and now Maran counsel

After the OpIndia article the then AG didn't appear in the case

The SC finally told Maran that the telecom secy may be called not as court witness but as defence witness.

What is the difference

If he is a defence witness his statements will be admissible against the accused

Not if he is a court witness

They will now.probably not call the telecom secy as defence witness

Hopefully the trial will conclude soon and justice will be done

About 1 in every 3 tonnes of fruit, vegetables and milk produced in India never reaches anybody. It rots on the way, because there was no cold storage and no refrigerated truck.

The trucks that do have a fridge run it off the engine. So the engine has to keep running, burning diesel, even when the truck is standing still in traffic.

A 25 year old engineer decided to take the fridge off the engine.

Her name is Shaivee Malik.

She studied biotechnology at the Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi.

While she was there she joined the college formula racing team, Axlr8r, and became associate team captain. That is where she learned to build things that actually work, with 2 friends from the same team, Vivek Mahindrakar and Dharmik Bapodara.

The 3 of them wanted to work on climate change. They looked around for where the damage was worst and least talked about, and landed on the cold chain.

In 2022 they founded a company called Yotuh Energy. The name comes from Sanskrit and refers to the act of cleaning. They registered it in Delhi and then moved to Chennai for an incubation programme at IIT Madras.

Their product is a refrigeration unit that runs on its own lithium ion battery, completely independent of the truck engine.

That one change does several things at once. The fridge runs whether the engine is on or off, so the truck stops burning diesel while it idles. It keeps working even if the vehicle breaks down. Sensors on the doors detect every time a door opens and adjust the cooling for it. And because it is a separate unit, it can be fitted to an ordinary diesel vehicle or an electric one.

It runs 6 to 8 hours on a charge.

It cuts refrigeration running costs by around 75%. Each unit avoids somewhere between 3 and 36 tonnes of carbon dioxide a year, depending on use.

They did not start with money. She has said the first support came from family. After that it was small government grants, 30,000 rupees a month for a year under one scheme, then a larger one, which is what paid for the early prototypes.

Then came a funding round of about 1.53 crore rupees, and grants from the agriculture ministry, the science and technology department and others.

Their paying customers now include distributors for Amul ice cream and for McCain frozen foods.

She is clear about what the company actually is. We are a cooling solutions company, she says. Trucks are just where they started, because a fridge tied to a diesel engine is the least sensible way to keep something cold.
