Ab batao, isn't he just a criminal minded person who has all the time world to throw casteist slurs at an "innocent" student?
Anyway, Prof Suryanarayana has now resigned.
I'm sure Indian education system is on very correct path. Just a few few more reforms like "Right to Copy" are needed. I'm sure Govt will do that too in students' interest.
Professor Who Caught the IIT-B Student
Look at His Achievements.
We Are Making a Joke of Our Education System — and the SC/ST Act Is at the Heart of It.
Reservation and the SC/ST atrocity act is a curse upon this nation. They took away the life of Sahil Wakode.
Let me explain why I say this.
I too have studied at one of India's premier institutions, and I saw something that people are often unwilling to discuss honestly. There can be an enormous academic gulf between students sitting in the same classroom. This does not necessarily mean that one group is hardworking and the other is not. Some of the students who struggled the most were also among the hardest-working.
The uncomfortable truth is that human ability has natural limits. The human brain, like the human body, differs from person to person. Exercise cannot turn every man into an Olympic athlete, and effort cannot give every student the same aptitude for mathematics, abstraction or rapid learning. Hard work can take a person a very long way, but it cannot abolish differences in innate ability.
Yet modern Indian society refuses to accept this simple fact.
Modern Indian parents are taught to believe that hard work is the answer to everything. When a child struggles, they do not ask whether the child has reached the limits of his particular aptitude. They tell him to work harder. They beat him, shame him, compare him with other children and make him believe that failure is a moral defect.
This becomes particularly vicious when education is treated as a matter of family honour and social status.
And then we take a student who might have been perfectly capable of succeeding in an ordinary college, place him in an extraordinarily competitive institution through a reservation system, and surround him with students selected from an entirely different academic distribution.
What happens next?
The student does not suddenly become stupid. He is simply competing in an environment in which the relative gap between him and his classmates may be enormous. He works harder and harder, yet continues to see others effortlessly doing what takes him hours. His marks remain low. His confidence collapses.
And because this is India, marks are not merely marks.
They become a public measure of intelligence, worth and family prestige.
The student begins to believe that everyone around him is discovering what his parents refuse to admit: that he cannot keep up.
That is where reservation becomes cruel.
Had the same student entered a college whose academic level was closer to his own preparation and aptitude, he might have been an average student instead of a perpetual failure. He might have competed with his classmates, made friends, succeeded at something and left college with his confidence intact.
Instead, our caste-based admission system can put him into an elite environment where the academic mismatch becomes a source of constant humiliation, while the surrounding culture tells him that there is no legitimate explanation for his struggle except that he has not worked hard enough. This constant humiliation makes him resort to desperate measures like cheating.
This is not compassion.
It is cruelty disguised as social justice.
And there is another poisonous consequence. Once caste becomes institutionalized in admissions and discipline, every academic dispute can acquire a caste dimension. The student sees himself as a victim of caste. The institution becomes afraid of appearing casteist. Teachers become conscious of the SC/ST machinery hanging over every interaction. Resentment grows on all sides. Reservation and SC/ST atrocity act is breaking India
> A Student Is Caught Using A Phone In An IIT Bombay Exam.
> Professor catches him.
> The Same Evening, He Dies By Suicide.
Then An FIR Under The "SC/ST Act" Is Filed Against The Professor 🤯
Stop. Read that again.
If a professor catches a student using a phone to upload an exam paper to ChatGPT, WHAT EXACTLY IS HE SUPPOSED TO DO?
Look away?
Pretend he saw nothing?
Give him a chocolate and say, “Beta, please don’t do it again”?
Academic malpractice has to be dealt with. Due process must protect everyone.
And if caste abuse actually occurred, investigate it ruthlessly. But isn't this PURE MISUSE of this act?
> Are professors now expected to check a student's CASTE when academic malpractice happens?
Bravo!! She’s back and back with another absolute banger on the ongoing reservation protests.
1.8 MILLION followers is no small feat.
That kind of reach means she’s influencing an entire generation of young minds.
I DO NOT SUPPORT RESERVATION
Knock Knock!! Look who’s here. 🔥
Damn, this is some NEXT-LEVEL questioning of the so-called Secularism.
2 MILLION young minds following her. 💪
She isn’t here to whisper. She’s here to TORCH the hypocrisy. 🔥
Can’t believe what Union Minister @AshwiniVaishnaw revealed about how attempts were made to sabotage India’s growth, citing the example of Apple’s manufacturing facility, from cutting electricity and cyberattacks to misinformation spread through international media outlets like Reuters.
There are actors within India and outside it who don’t want to see India rise. They will go to any length to obstruct India’s progress.

If you really want to understand where the world is at and where it's going, you probably cannot get anything more meaningful than the OECD's PISA study - a global test given every 3 years to an insane 760,000 15-year-olds across 91 countries.
No report globally, by any institution, better captures whether countries are building or squandering their future.
The latest PISA results just came out yesterday (https://t.co/FbHx266LH4) and the results are genuinely fascinating, and in some way pretty depressing.
Why depressing? Because, sadly, the numbers show that the world is getting dumber: as you can see on the first graph below 👇, since roughly 2012 scores in science, reading, and mathematics have been in continuous decline across OECD countries.
The reading score is particularly concerning: it literally cratered, dropping 28 points since 2015, the equivalent of almost 1.5 years of schooling lost according to the report.
To make matters even worse, the reading skill that's dropped the most across the board is precisely the one we most desperately need: the capacity to critically assess what you read, cross-reference sources, and tell signal from noise.
On average, sadly, 15-year-old kids globally are - more and more - incapable of slowing down and actually thinking about what they're reading.
Interestingly though, when you look into the details, this great "dumbing down" isn't across the board: it's overwhelmingly concentrated in wealthy Western countries, while many developing countries are actually getting significantly smarter.
For instance rich countries like Finland, the Netherlands, and Norway are in freefall, while countries like Cambodia, Türkiye, and the UAE are posting big gains.
To be clear, this doesn't mean that developing countries are now "smarter" than rich ones: save for one notable exception, that's still not the case. But they are catching up fast, both because rich countries are getting "dumber" and because they're themselves getting smarter.
The one exception is, as you'd expect, the "smartest" of them all, by a huge margin: China.
It is pretty much in a league of its own: just look at the ranking in the table (only kids in Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang got tested - 4 regions covering 200 million people).
China's maths results are particularly insane: according to the report, the best level in maths - level 5, where "top performers" begins - starts at 607. The AVERAGE kid in China is 612: "normal" Chinese kids are at a level that is considered elite in the rest of the world.
In fact, and that's probably the funniest number in the entire report, look at the column called "Share of low performers in science, reading and mathematics": China is only at 1.8% 😅
Which means that only 1.8% of Chinese kids are rated as low performers in all 3 subjects, almost a rounding error. Even Singapore, the second best and generally considered best-in-class in education, is at 6.8% - almost 4 times worse. My country France, is at 21.3% - almost 12 times worse 😢
All of this - incidentally - dispels the common myth that there would be some kids who are just genetically beyond redemption and simply can't be taught: China proves that with the right system, virtually every child can reach proficiency.
So what does this all say about the world and where it's going, besides the fact that, if the future belongs to those who can think, China has never been better positioned to own it?
I think the more general picture is this: there is nothing inevitable about any country's trajectory.
Finland was the world's education darling fifteen years ago - now it's in complete freefall (see the last graph 👇). Cambodia was at the bottom of every table - now it's posting the biggest gains ever recorded in the study. What changed wasn't the children: it's still Finnish kids (Finland has one of the lowest levels of immigration in the West), and it's still Cambodian kids.
It also doesn't matter much - or at least it matters less - if a country is wealthy or not. For instance in Southeast Asia, both Malaysia and Indonesia - the 2 biggest ASEAN economies after Singapore - are faring very badly, while Thailand and Vietnam, both poorer, have better educated kids whose scores are continuing to improve.
So that's the final takeaway: the kids don't change, they all have potential, always, as China's 1.8% proved.
What does change is what adults decide to do with that potential. It's both hopeful - because it means any country can choose to turn things around at any time - and also sad given the results - because it means so many countries are choosing to fail their children.
This reporter exposed Abhijeet Dipke over the Delhi building collapse.👏🔥
Reporter: “Did you hear about the building collapse in Delhi?”
Abhijeet Dipke: “Yes. The Delhi CM should resign. Otherwise, we will protest.”
Reporter: “But this building was constructed when Arvind Kejriwal was CM. The MCD had also warned that it was unsafe. Then who should be balmed?
Abhijeet Dipke: “The building was private. Arvind Kejriwal can’t be blamed.”
Reporter: “But you yourself are saying Rekha Gupta should resign as Delhi CM. How does that make sense?”
After that, Abhijeet Dipke started smiling like a thief so he wouldn’t get exposed.😹😭
INDIA 🇮🇳 NEEDS A MASSIVE CIVIC MOVEMENT.
Even as the largest growing major economy, India continues to be one of the filthiest nations with corrupt, non-functional municipalities, terrible urban infrastructure, shockingly bad civic and traffic sense, and no punishment for treating the country like a dump yard, either for officials or citizens.
Unless civic governance and civic sense is fixed, I’m afraid we will remain the Third World.
Some people who don't aware of history think that Chittorgarh Jauhar is the first and only jauhar of India but that's not true.

There is an enormous amount of hatred for India and Indians in Bangladesh (with some inevitable exceptions). And this hatred lies in the body politic. It expresses itself in acrimonious anti-India rhetoric and sentiment that political parties such as BNP exploit.
Yet, for all the hatred, it seems Bangladesh's John Doe and Jane Doe are very interested in sneaking into different parts of India.
I turn 50 today. This is a message to my kids but I offer it to you in case any of it rings useful.
I was born in Sri Lanka in 1976 in a country that, at the time, was about to enter a decades long civil war. My father was able to get stationed at the Sri Lankan High Commission in Canada for four years in the early 80s - when some of the fighting was most severe - and which from our vantage point in Canada gave us some respite from an otherwise omnipresent conflict.
He came as a diplomat but then my father filed for refugee status after four years when his life was threatened by militants. We stayed in Canada as refugees. My dad never really landed on his feet and we grew up on welfare.
My mom stepped up. She did an incredible thing and put our family on her back and kept marching forward. Sometimes the steps were very small but she always tried to keep moving forward.
I worked at Burger King starting at 14, giving my paycheck to my mom and dad to support our family in the role that I was assigned - earn enough to pay for our bus passes because we couldn’t afford a car.
I was a loser growing up. Some friends, some good memories but mostly forgettable and lonely. I wasn’t very studious but did get my act together in my final year and got into a great university.
I immigrated to the US soon after graduating and found an opportunity. Things clicked and I have been traveling a path to find myself ever since. Only in America is this possible…
I worked hard, followed the rules, paid my taxes and stayed in California out of loyalty for the opportunities it has given me despite its dysfunction.
I found my wife here. Had my kids here. Found my tribe here.
There have been some very hard times as well - deaths, divorce, financial pain, mistakes of omission and mistakes of commission. You can’t dwell on these things - they are weights that will pull you down if you’re not careful. Learn from them. Respect them. BUT MOVE ON.
To think 50 years ago I could have ever gotten a chance to meet the people I’ve met and have had the experiences I’ve had would have been mind boggling to my parents. It’s mind boggling to me now.
We forget often and try to convince others it’s not true but America truly is the best country in the world. Everything and anything is possible here. I can testify. Be grateful to be here.
This is the only place that gives EVERYONE a chance to live a great adventure. The first 50 years have been that for me - an incredible adventure.
Notice there is nothing here about accomplishments or money. Because it doesn’t matter and it won’t matter.
You will be dust in less than 100 years from now and the decision to be remembered won’t be yours so stop sweating it. It’s not in your control.
So what is in your control?
Be kind. Have fun. Work on something meaningful to you. Find your tribe. Try to find perspective. Find an incredible partner. Have a bunch of kids. Live an adventure. Forgive your parents - they were doing the best they could even if that wasn’t what you deserved.
I will do what I can to make my next 50 years a wild ride.
You should too.
I love you and thank you. ❤️
