@letmebefrankbro We don't know Larkin's yet, but St. Louis doesn't want to deal Thomas so has essentially said they want the value of ~3-4 first round, if not top-15 picks for him.
Thomas is 3 years younger,
More productive and carries a slightly lower cap hit. Each have 5 years left. Price per acquisition should be considerably higher for Thomas as a result. And Thomas is not on the record now as requesting a trade.
Surprisingly not that much better lol
He's basically been around year 1 Michkov in terms of his skating this year to include the playoffs.
And was only slightly better than that most of his career.
Players that deceptive rarely need to be particularly good skaters.
There's a cognitive bias where we overlook age due to experience.
If we've watched a player for 4 seasons, it doesn't matter if they're only 22, we'll think the 24 year old rookie has a bigger runway.
But the truth is the opposite.
Making the NHL at a young age means a lot.
Larkin was in the NHL during his D+2 season.
Really, if you AREN'T in the NHL by that point and you have the chance, you probably won't be a top-line player.

@SuitableAlias Larkin had a hell of a junior season this year and most likely will be ready to play after his first D1 college season like Martone. You have no idea what you’re talking about. We are rebuilding, bring in a 30 yr old and trading away prospects makes no sense.
Haven't been able to unsee it since.
Every Vegas game I see a 5'10" player with a low base shooting from a dead angle and retrieving the puck with some crazy wall move only to pop out the other end for a seam pass
And I think Tocchet got his way and Michkov is a Golden Knight.
There are rumors that the Flyers are interested in John Carlson and could bring him to Philadelphia on a short-term deal. The Flyers' PP has been terrible since ~2022, and Carlson could definitely help in that area.
