TINUBU SEEKS SENATE APPROVAL FOR FRESH $516M LOAN TO FUND SOKOTO-BADAGRY HIGHWAY
President Bola Tinubu has written to the senate requesting approval of the Senate to secure $516.3 million in syndicated financing from Deutsche Bank for the construction of the Sokoto- Badagry Super Highway Project, covering Sections I, Phase IA and IB, spanning approximately 120 kilometres.
The request, conveyed in a letter to the Senate, according to the president is in line with the provisions of Sections 16 and 21 of the Debt Management Office Act.
President Tinubu described the Badagry Super Highway as a flagship project under the Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at opening up Nigeria’s North–South corridor through the development of about 1,000 kilometres of inland dual carriageway linking Kebbi, Niger, Kwara, Oyo, Ogun and Lagos States.
According to the President, the project is expected to improve connectivity, enhance safety and network performance, reduce logistics costs and travel time, and strengthen trade, food security and national cohesion by improving access between production zones, markets and ports.
It will also preserve future infrastructure expansion by accommodating utilities and intermodal transport integration.
The proposed financing is backed by a partial risk guarantee from ICIEC, the insurance arm of the Islamic Development Bank, alongside Federal Government counterpart funding of N265.5 billion and additional provisions for land acquisition, compensation and supporting infrastructure.
The loan has a tenor of nine years, including a grace period of up to three years, with an interest rate capped at CME SOFR plus 5.3 per cent.
The President noted that the financing arrangement has already been approved by the Federal Executive Council and urged the Senate to grant the required approval and include it in the borrowing plan.
The letter was subsequently referred by the Senate President to the Senate Committee on Local and Foreign Debts, with a directive to report back within one week.
@vanguardngrnews One chance government.. 2023-24-25-2026 capital expenditure of budget not yet implemented.. We ask, Where are all these monies going? Tinubu will be the first former President to be jailed! #Panamá#tinubuandgangmustgo#virałpost
What kind of myopic thinking is this, that disagreeing with the chairman of an independent electoral body is somehow equivalent to going against our party, the APC? Where exactly is the correlation, please?
Watch this interview and you'll see that Nafiu Bala Gombe's problem is deeper than we thought. He was asked the constitutional basis for calling for calling himself the ADC national chairman and who in the party supports him. Instead of answering the question, he reintroduced himself and then spoke in what sounded like a language only he understands.
Why is he doing this to himself? Clearly, this young man needs more basic education than the chairmanship of a political party. ~Prof Kperogi
Today’s Saturday Tribune column X-rays INEC Chairman Joash Amupitan’s pro-APC tweets from the 2023 election, exposes the falsehood in the official denial, and calls on him to resign to salvage what remains of the public trust in the electoral process: https://t.co/bUYDsZuJKn
Please, my tweet asking Grok about the alleged INEC Chairman Twitter account should not be misinterpreted as a defense of him. I am not in any position to defend INEC or its leadership. I simply asked Grok to verify what I saw trending on this platform.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has vowed to fish out those behind viral claims linking its Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, to alleged partisan social media posts, describing the development as a coordinated attempt to undermine the credibility of the electoral body.

He left a very powerful message for Tinubu & his sycophantic bunch (who have done Nigeria & Nigerians harm). I paid attention to his choice of words, each lexicon was carefully selected for the type of message he wanted to pass.
I align myself with everything he said. Asiwaju will wallow in rampant infamy. For me, that’s consolation. No victory is bigger than that! 👏
Thank you, Mr. Daniel Bwala, SA to President Tinubu, for helping Nigerians understand exactly why Tinubu should not be voted for in 2027.
If you come across this video please repost🔄 let's appreciate Mr Bwala for speaking.
@HighChiefOkoro Why do you want to waste your money? The earlier you know that Abians will not only vote for Otti, All abians are also his poling agents..
