I am deeply concerned that the Mohan Majhi government has decided to shut down schools with fewer than 20 students, targeting nearly 5,630 schools across the state, including 1,826 in western Odisha alone. In Sundargarh district, 397 schools are set to close, the highest in the state, followed by 156 in Nuapada.

This is a betrayal of our children’s right to education. Instead of improving infrastructure, hiring teachers, and strengthening public education, the BJP government is taking away classrooms from our poorest and most remote villages.

The Right to Education (RTE) Act guarantees every child access to free and compulsory education. Closing schools violates this fundamental right.

When the government shuts down schools, it shuts down dreams, opportunities, and the future of rural Odisha. @CMO_Odisha
