Vamsy's last great movie IMO.
The story of Diwakaram( Rajendraprasad) a smooth talking operator who gets around by cheating, lying.
Falls in love with Bhuvaneswari( Shobhana) who is his exact opposite. She puts a condition that to prove his love for her, he has to speak only the truth nothing else for a month.
The first half of the movie is an absolute laugh riot, especially scenes where Diwakaram cons the railway colony resident. The last 10-15 minutes gets serious, but then Vamsy's movies are like that mostly.
While Rajendra Prasad is brilliant as usual, it's the supporting cast of characters who really elevates of whom Mallikarjuna Rao is the best as the guy with a roving eye.
Shobana as the no nonsense, principled Bhuvaneswari lends dignity to her part.
Pradeep Sakthi who usually plays villian roles gets a completely different role here and does well. .
Krishna Bhagvan whom we are more familiar with in comedy roles, does a completely serious role here.
Ilayaraja once again comes up with a superb soundtrack- "Chukkalu Temmana", "Vompula Vaikhiri", "Okate Aasa", "Nijamante" the album is popular to date. Not to mention some superb lyrics by Sirivennela Gaaru.
Vamsy and Rajendra Prasad were one great combo. This one, Preminchu Pelladu, Ladies Tailor, Chettukinda Pleader all great movies can watch anytime.
40 years of Sirivennela.
Sensitive depiction of the relationship between a blind flute player Hari( Sarvadaman Banerjee), and a deaf-mute painter Subhashini( Suhasini), who bond together in a small Rajasthan town.
Things change when Jyotirmoy( Moon Moon Sen), a tour guide discovers Hari's talent and helps him become famous.
This to me is one of K. Vishwanath's more underrated movies.
It has a more artsy tone, moving along at a very leisurely palace, more introspective. Maybe that is why it wasn't commercially successful.
This was the movie where a certain Chembolu Seetarama Sastry became more famous as Sirivennela Sitarama Sastry, to the extent, he began to be known more by the movie name.
Superb soundtrack by K.V.Mahadevan , "Aadi Bhikshuvu Vaadu", "Chandamama Raave", "Vidhata Talapuna", "Ee Gaali, Ee Nela", "Merise Taaralade Roopam", another album that deserves a separate post by itself.
Anveshana(1985)- Vamsy
Kshana Kshanam(1991)- RGV
Still remain the best thriller movies to date in Telugu cinema. No other movie after these two has come close, except Anukokunda Oka Roju maybe.
Both of these movies had a great comedy track, as well as soundtrack, proving one could make a superb thriller within commercial format.
RGV and Vamsy were the OG Cult directors of Telugu cinema.
41 Years of Anveshana
If ever there was a true cult movie in Telugu cinema, had to be Anveshana, to date one of the best murder mystery thriller.
Released without much hype or expectations, went on to become a sleeper hit.
Basically the story is about a series of mysterious murders in a forest, and Hema( Bhanupriya) who arrives there to do research on bird sounds. Karthik is Amar, who believes there is something behind the murders.
Anveshana's plot is quite thin, it's the screenplay that keeps you really hooked. Vamsy creates that atmosphere of fear and doom, so well, you find yourself gripping the seat.
The crazy camera angles in the forest scenes especially, and the beautiful sunrise, sunset shots. For a movie shot 40 years back, this had some of the most stunning visuals ever during that time.
In fact much before Shiva this movie had some of the best tracking shots, giving you a feeling of being right in the forest. Again the way Vamsy shoots the night time scenes, just creates that scary atmosphere so well.
The other one is the way he keeps tossing red herrings throughout the movie, making you suspect everyone be it Hema's eccentric uncle, played by Satyanarayana, the forest officer James played by Saratbabu.
One more thing Vamsy integrates comedy track well, in fact makes it a part of the movie, even the romance between Karthik and Bhanupriya flows along with the movie story.
And maestro Ilayaraja, he provides a brilliant soundtrack with "Edalo Laya", "Keeravani", "Ekantha Vela" and "Ilalo" being memorable to date.
And that BGM score has to be one of the scariest ever, on par with John Williams score for Jaws and Bernard Hermann's for Pyscho.
Bhanupriya looks gorgeous, acts well and has an excellent chemistry with Karthik. An excellent supporting cast of Satyanarayana, Sarathbabu, Ralapalli, Mallikarjuna Rao, Subalekha Sudhakar elevates the movie.
I would say this movie was far ahead of it's times be it the visuals, the narrative, the tracking shots, the music.
Jhanjhariya featured Karishma Kapoor in 30 different outfits, each styled with unique hair and makeup, making it a visually iconic and demanding shoot.
I was happy reading your post till i saw the "no level playing field" jibe at BJP,at fag end of your post
Problem with you,Rajdeep,is the fact that you thought it was level playing field for 15 long yrs, when TMC was in power
Now when Mamata is decimated, you can't handle it:):)
अरे भैया जी! मैंने आपका क्या बिगाड़ा है! क्यों आप चाहते हो कि मेरे सिर पर बाल आ जायें! मौजूदा हालात में जन्मों तक नहीं चाहूँगा! जय श्री राम! 🤪🤪🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂😂

Suvendu Adhikari adapted to the BJP's way of functioning rather than trying to change it.
He will be the CM of West Bengal.
There is a lesson for many leaders in the Telangana BJP here.
