I take full responsibility when I am wrong. But I will not apologize for how I react when you humiliate, disrespect, and deliberately provoke me. You don't get to do both. There's a tactic that doesn't get talked about enough. They push. They poke. They chip away at your dignity with little digs, public embarrassments, and deliberate provocations — and then the moment you respond, suddenly you're the problem. I have to agree with "yes and no," and I no longer live in the city. So, take that for what it's worth.
In the 90s and through the early 2010s riding the subway at night was not an issue even though sketchiness existed in pockets and moments.
Now, violent, random crime happens more than it ought to for a safe city though not too often in Manhattan and still less than it would appear to throughout the 5 boros if you watch too much Fox News in a suburban cocoon. Still, a grain of truth.
