@IamNidhieSharma @IAF_MCC Well at the very least it’s a step in the right direction. Military advisors, however, should be given more latitude in so far as the creative process is concerned. And yes, miles to go before the industry gets anywhere close to BoB, The Pacific and the like.

@IamNidhieSharma Agreed. Inaccuracies aside, they have a better approach to filmmaking on a whole in this genre. Perhaps that has something to do with their actors, directors having served. Most of the stars of the 50s through to the 80s were vets, either WW2 or later conflicts like Korea- Nam.

@DivaJain2 Ma’am not a fan of the General. However, a lot of what you say is myth. Hollywood has mythicized war, but they do it better. That’s all there is to it. Lovat, bagpipes, tanks cranking up on canes is mostly myth. Books & good ones so a lot to dispel all of it.

@kunwar_ishwarr Interesting photos. He’s with Gen Mark Clark. Most likely in Italy where Clark commanded the US 5th Army and subsequently the 15 Army Group. Indian troops were a part of the British 8th Army during the Italian Campaign

@ShivAroor Its one of the most iconic films of the 70s & of De Niro’s career. Also John Cazale’s final film. And it win 5 Oscars including best film, director and supporting actor (Christopher Walken). So by no stretch is it a film that hardly been heard of, or spoken about.

@ChandrusWeb Absolutely bang on. No comparison b/w what happened in WW2 & now. Allied Naval, land & air power had been decimated, Singapore, Malaya & the then Dutch East Indies had fallen. There was no worthwhile British or Allied military power left in that part of the world. Childish.
