Dear @kritisanon
You wouldn’t dress for Eid the same way you dress for a nightclub. You wouldn’t dress for Christmas the same way you dress for a beach holiday. You wouldn’t wear Halloween attire to a traditional wedding.
There is a reason we dress differently for Holi, Diwali, weddings and religious festivals. Clothing, food, sweets and traditions are all shaped by the occasion.
The issue isn’t “telling women what to wear.” The issue is whether what is being promoted is appropriate for the occasion.
Wear whatever you want in your personal life or films. That’s your choice.
But when you participate in a festival rooted in tradition, showing some sensitivity toward the occasion isn’t oppression.
It’s basic cultural awareness. 😇
Spoke to Prime Minister Balendra Shah and conveyed condolences on the loss of lives due to the floods in Nepal. The people of India stand in solidarity with their sisters and brothers in Nepal at this difficult time.
India is ready to provide all possible humanitarian assistance to Nepal. Our teams are coordinating closely on rescue and relief efforts.

Secularism saaaar we are secular saaaar.
Onam is not Hindu festival saaaaar.

The people who reversed the Shah Bano judgment, opposed the Triple Talaq Bill, and opposed the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam are now preaching to us about “smashing the patriarchy.”
For them, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman Ji’s words in Parliament come to mind:
“Before talking about corruption, wash your face with Dettol.”
Perhaps the same advice applies before preaching to us about patriarchy and women’s empowerment. 🤡
