JB — basketball question:
Have you ever studied Chauncey Billups’ way of controlling pace and creating contact on his terms to conserve energy over long playoff runs?
Curious if there are elements of that you’ve incorporated into your game.

Thank you to everyone that's been supporting my content!
My Youtube channel (Dynamo DeFi) just passed 30,000 subscribers.
A few thoughts on my experience growing on YouTube and building a content brand in crypto...
For anyone new to my channel, I make tutorials about DeFi and educational summaries of crypto projects (not shilling or price predictions).

There's a demand for honest, educational content
I first started my channel because I was showing my dad how to do something on-chain (bridge from the Avalanche X-Chain to the Avalanche C-Chain) and couldn't find a video tutorial for it. i figured that likely other people were struggling with this to.
I looked up words that started with D in a Scrabble dictionary, chose 'Dynamo' because it sounded cool, and recorded a quick screenshare with no editing. To my surprise, it got a few hundred views and Dynamo DeFi was born.
What I've found over the years is that there's a surprising lack of content about how to actually use crypto applications. I suspect part of this is that it's easier to grow by telling someone that you discovered a 100X gem than it is by showing them how to use DefiLlama.
YouTube isn't really a social media
YouTube is much different from Twitter. I always say that it's not really a social media. It's more of a content management system.
When you think about it, there's no social aspect to YouTube. There are no DMs and you typically don't connect to friends.
In fact, YouTube shares much more in common with blogging than with posting on Twitter. You live and die by metrics like impressions, CTR, and view time.
I suspect this is part of the reason why large Twitter accounts often (but not always) struggle to grow on YouTube, while excelling on Instagram.
The grind pays off
I adopted a strategy of making evergreen videos. My thesis was (and is) that the future is on-chain and that the millions of people using crypto will need education.
This meant creating hundreds of videos.
The nice thing about YouTube is that videos will continue to get views long after you publish them. I have videos from months or even years ago that still get views.
Over the past 2 years, I've built up a library of hundreds of tutorials. And honestly, there were times it was tough to stay motivated. Some months I published dozens of videos and barely got any new subscribers.
Now that more people are paying attention to crypto, that catalog of videos is raking in views. And I'm just getting started.
@nickgerli1 Hi Nick, just saw one of your youtube videos. Really enjoyed the content, great job! Very informative and loved the app you've developed to back your commentary up with data. Look forward to checking it out. Keep up the great work 👍
Maybe someday I’ll share my full crypto story. The abbreviated version…
>Rekt in 2018
>Exit for 2 years, re-enter in 2020
>Rekt badly in spring 2021, down bad after being up
>Create a YouTube and Twitter because no $ to buy le dip
>Fall 2021 happens, make more than a year of income, YouTube channel grows to 10K
>Leave job for a crypto job offer in May
>Next day Terra crashes, job falls through
>Apply to a ton of entry level crypto jobs. Only get 1 interview (Binance US). No second interview.
>TFW 5K Twitter followers, 14K YouTube subs, no monetization and no job
>Start posting more content, test different things to see what works. Find a niche in on-chain analysis and research guides.
>Keep adapting and learning, find mentors and learn the game of online income.
>One year later, self-sufficient and many crypto
people I idolized in 2021 follow me
>Still learning, figuring out how to ensure income is sustainable, but much happier with life overall
@Dynamo_Patrick Glad it's going better Patrick! You're one of the few genuine ppl in this space, so I'm sure you'll continue to develop and thrive moving forward with everything!
The DefiLlama ChatGPT plugin is even more powerful than I realized at first. With one simple prompt you can summarize what’s happening on-chain and save yourself hours of time.
First, you’ll need the DefiLlama plugin. To use the plugin, you’ll need ChatGPT Plus. Once you have ChatGPT Plus, go through these steps to install it:
1. Select GPT-4
2. Ensure that you have “Plugins” selected
3. Go to the Plugin Store
4. Search for DefiLlama
5. Install
Now, you’re ready to begin. Here’s the simple prompt:
“Summarize what’s happening on chain over the past day. Display the results in tables."
BOOM. ChatGPT shows the Chains/L2s that gained the most TVL today, the protocols with the highest percentage growth in TVL, and the top yield pools (not sure exactly how these are judged to be the top).
