Dharavi Redevelopment At A Massive Scale
Around 65,000 eligible Dharavi residents are set to receive free homes measuring between 300 and 350 sq ft, according to the SRA CEO.
The numbers show the enormous scale of the rehabilitation effort accompanying Dharavi’s redevelopment.
65,000 Families At The Heart Of Dharavi’s Transformation
The Dharavi redevelopment plan includes free 300 to 350 sq ft homes for around 65,000 eligible residents.
Beyond transforming infrastructure, the project is ultimately about transforming living conditions for people who already call Dharavi home.
Dharavi’s Transformation Comes With A Housing Commitment
65,000 eligible residents are being provided free 300 to 350 sq ft homes as part of Dharavi’s redevelopment, according to SRA CEO Mahendra Kalyankar.
The focus is clear: redevelopment must also deliver improved housing for the people who have built their lives in Dharavi.
Dharavi Residents Get A Clear Message On Their Future
For eligible residents with homes dating before 2000, the assurance is straightforward: a 350 sq ft home, free of cost, within Dharavi.
The redevelopment vision is not only about transforming infrastructure, but also about providing eligible families with formal rehabilitation housing.

Adani Ports just recorded its biggest-ever monthly cargo volume.
Adani Ports & SEZ (APSEZ) handled a record 50 MMT of cargo in August 2026, up 19% YoY from 41.9 MMT last year.
The growth was broad-based:
📦 Dry cargo: +25% YoY
🚢 Containers: +15% YoY
For April-August FY27, APSEZ has already handled 234.4 MMT, up 16% YoY.
Dry cargo grew 17% & containers 15% during the period.
The company is targeting 1 billion metric tonnes of annual cargo by FY31 & the latest numbers show the scale-up is continuing.
Its logistics business handled 54,131 TEU's in August, up 6% sequentially. However, April-August rail volumes stood at 2,50,461 TEU's, down 33% YoY, an important weak spot to watch.
And this comes after a strong Q1 FY27:
• Revenue: ₹10,821 Cr (+19% YoY)
• EBITDA: ₹6,541 Cr (+19% YoY)
• EBITDA margin: 60.4%
• PAT: ₹3,650 Cr (+10% YoY)
• Q1 cargo volume: 138.1 MMT (+14% YoY)
Domestic ports remain the earnings backbone, with Q1 domestic cargo at 115.3 MMT & EBITDA margin at a remarkable 74%.
APSEZ's all-India cargo market share stood at 27.6%, while its container cargo market share was 44.8%.
International operations are also becoming increasingly important.
Q1 international port volumes jumped to 22.8 MMT from 7.7 MMT, helped by NQXT Australia and the ramp-up of Colombo West International Terminal. International Ports EBITDA surged 256% YoY.
The company continues to target FY27 revenue of ₹43,000-45,000 Cr & EBITDA of ₹25,000-26,000 Cr.
APSEZ is also expanding domestic port capacity from 653 MMT currently to 1,000 MMT by December 2030.
So the bigger story isn't just one record month.
It's the combination of:
Higher cargo volumes + expanding capacity + strong margins + international expansion + container growth.
With India's trade and infrastructure cycle continuing to expand, APSEZ is positioning itself for another major growth phase.
50 MMT in a single month.
234.4 MMT in just five months.
Next target:
1 billion tonnes annually by FY31.

83,700 sq ft sounds massive until you convert it into perspective.
It is just 0.7778 hectares across both projects.
That is only slightly larger than a football field.
The Raigad project affects 158 mangrove trees and shrubs, while the company has committed to planting 10 times the number affected.
This is why numbers should be reported with scale, not just used to create outrage.
83,700 Sq Ft Sounds Massive Until You Realise It Is Only Slightly Larger Than A Football Field
The total forest land diversion across the Raigad and Amravati projects is just 0.7778 hectares. In Raigad, only 158 mangrove trees and shrubs will be affected, not “crores of trees” as some posts suggest.
The Raigad project has passed High Court and Supreme Court scrutiny, includes a 10X mangrove plantation commitment, and is designed to shift bulk transport from roads to waterways, potentially cutting transport emissions by over 60%.
The “Massive Forest Diversion” Narrative Falls Apart When You Look At The Scale
Across Raigad and Amravati combined, the diversion is only 0.7778 hectares, roughly just a little bigger than a football field.
The Raigad terminal is meant to move cement and raw materials through waterways instead of roads, helping reduce congestion and potentially cutting transport emissions by more than 60%.
