Legislation like this is so important for setting a precedent that animal welfare issues are just as important as anything else! This is so great! #39canimals
In 2022, the Wild Horse and Burro Protection Act was passed that protects wild and free roaming horses and burros. Continuing to bring awareness to problems will ignite a change! #39canimals
It is interesting how humans are the cause of this extinction, and yet we are still the ones dictating the laws that allow this kind of treatment to continue. We need more accountability! #39canimals
humans are responsible for the extinction of 469 species of birds over the past 50,000 years. The most extinction is caused by habitat destruction, hunting, and the introduction of non-native species. #39canimals
I believe this kind of violence within homes towards dogs should be legally classified as domestic violence. Dogs need the same rights and freedoms as humans have in these kinds of cases! #39canimals
The popularity of dog cruelty has risen throughout the years and this is due to the raise in popularity of having dogs as pets. With the rise of dog ownership, the rates of dog cruelty has also risen. #39canimals
Below you can see a graph with the statistics of pet ownership
This is one of the main reasons these facilities and their actions remain legal! There is no accountability for the horrors they are committing, so nothing can change until they face legal consequences βοΈ #39canimals
Since there are no forms of inspections, there is no authority which makes sure the regulations placed are being met at the facility. Furthermore proving that these puppies are kept in facilities that have little to no regard for their wellbeing. #39canimals
Simply being open to being educated on these kinds of welfare issues could bring so much more awareness! There is so much useful information available on social media! #39canimals
Advocacy and education is the first step in ending puppy mills because education goes a long way, as it makes people more aware of what is taking place. Another solution is to make puppy mills a main stream problem. #39canimals
The Humane Society of the US is such a great resource for advocating for animal rights! I really enjoy reading the recent research they have, or stories of the work they are doing to help.
The humane society is an organization that fights for the lives of dogs, cats, and other animals. Every animal deserves to live a good life #39canimals#humanesociety
Changes in legislation are always the most important solutions we can pose for these kinds of welfare issues! It just sucks that powers in charge rarely view this as a priority :( #39canimals
The decline in the sales of pet stores will lead to a decline in the production of puppy mills. Proving that with government and legislation creating new laws and regulations in order to lower the number of puppy mills, the problem will be helped immensely.

The over breeding of animals in these facilities typically also leads to a raise stray pets, which can be harmful to public health. The raise in strays leads to a raise in exposure of dogs who are unvaccinated and possibly infected with diseases. #39canimals
Lastly, I learned so much about how to accurately and effectively reflect on the progress of my writing work through the use of our digital portfolio. This was such a great space to really show my growth! Here is a link to it :)

I definitely learned a lot about the correct MLA format I should be using for these kinds of research papers. This includes headings, titles, page numbers, and most importantly, the citations and works cited! π³ #WhatIlearnedin39c

Another solution!: "Media advocacy also has the power and ability to put pressure on those in power to create policy changes and substantially alter the practices in place for any given welfare issue."

"The development of 3D cell cultures that resemble 'organs-on-a-chip' began in the 20th century, as the accuracy in testing and research mimicked the biological environment of humans and was drastically improved from the 2D models of the past." This image shows this visually :)
Solution: OOCs "mimic human physiology and utilizes in vitro technology in a way that allows for drugs and therapies to be tested on the device instead of a living being, as it contains cell cultures given with consent from human donors"

"Another main factor in the continuation of the dog experimentation industry without any legal consequences is the secrecy that it remains hidden behind because of the powers controlling these facilities and surrounding legislation."

"According to an Intercept article by journalist Glenn Greenwald, the popular American industry of breeding dogs for the sole purpose of harmful testing and experimentation and the horrors that go along with it are surprisingly completely legal."
