The beauty of a trend following approach is that it neither requires market prediction (which is mostly impossible, anyway), nor having to work with a target in mind. Just cut short the losses quickly & let the profits run unless prices reverse. Simple, but not easy!
@sabeer My view: the currency notes in your wallet are nothing but mere papers. They assume value because some people 'believe' they are valuable. If that belief is a myth, you too believe in that myth. So, your views on Ramayana is biased. You too believe in convenient myths.
@sagarikaghose@AITCofficial@BJP4India 1. You could have boycott the election on SIR deletion at the beginning. One cannot complain after losing.
2. There must be some reason behind each deletion. TMC govt's credibility were at bottom. Their previous election wins were questionable.
3. Corruption killed your govt
@sagarikaghose You are right. HM should not have told the brazen truth such blatantly. As a protest, I will vote for your Muslim League party this election.
@Ashish1Nanda@AshishGupta325 Mr Nanda, retail are also losing money in state lottery. Would you propose to stop it? Many new ventures are failing. Stop new start ups? Getting cancer from smoking. Ban tobacco? 99.99% students failing UPSC exam. Stop exam? Only 1 team winning world cup among 10. Stop sports?
Why do I stay away from Stocks & concentrate on the index? Simple. I am a very bad stock-picker. Indeed. But at the same time, I have also not seen many traders to have picked stocks better than me. Evidence? Nifty at all time high & most long only cash portfolios are languishing
@DrRomeetSaha Learn coding. Run a thorough backtest on a large sample size & examine the results closely. Everything will be clear. Remember: a model that is not testable is worse than a model that loses money.
@iRadhikaGupta Having the products ready is one thing but advising the investors to put money there is another. I have hardly come across any advisor/fund manager suggesting increasing weightage in precious metals in past 1 year. They always advise the ones where their own commission is fat.
The remaining part is easy. Copy OHLC columns to the right of it & you have clean long data ready for analysis. Yes, its a bit untidy, may be some smarter solution exists, but as the say goes, even ugly codes still work. Hope, it helps. 🙂
For analysts, data is everything. We need lots & lots of data to create & test hypothesis. Obtaining (stock ) data in a granular level is extremely challenging unless either you are very proficient with Python APIs or buy expensive subscriptions. Zerodha comes to rescue.
Here is my solution. Just paste the above Excel formula in a new column and the output is an Date & Timestamp identifiable by Excel. Cell A6 is the only variable here. [As usual, copy the formula to other cells & A1, A2...A7,A8,A9 ...are automatically converted :) ]
