TWEEPS: 25 million seniors will open their Medicare Part D renewal letters this fall and find out Republicans raised their drug costs.
Less than 100 days before the midterms.
They should ALL remember who did this. #RepublicanMedicareCuts
Today, many were shocked by yet another video of the drone “safari” Russians are carrying out against civilians in Kherson. A Russian drone deliberately hunted down a man selling vegetables and detonated right next to him. The Russians even admitted to the crime, showing zero regret and openly boasting about tormenting people. The man was wounded in the blast. Every single day, ordinary people in Kherson face these Russian "safaris."
The world must see this. It must see every piece of evidence that Russia has gone mad and that its soldiers take pleasure in killing and abusing civilians. Without pressure on Russia, the dismantling of its capacity for aggression, and real security guarantees, it is simply impossible to imagine the world being able to coexist with this evil. We must remain resolute in defending life. We must act and support life in ways that force Russia to seriously think about peace rather than expanding the range of its drones.
This is not just about Ukraine. Russia’s campaign against human life must be stopped here in Ukraine before it spreads further. Finland and Kazakhstan, the Baltic states and Poland, the countries of the South Caucasus, Romania, and Moldova—all should work together to ensure real security guarantees and bring Russia’s war to an end. Peace is needed, which requires cooperation among everyone in the world who truly values peace. Thank you to everyone standing with Ukraine!

🇺🇦‼️ Jesse Eisenberg witnessed the Russian shelling of Ukraine during a visit and reacted to it: “What if they bombed New York?”
"We were woken up by anxiety, we went down to the shelter, and in the morning I saw the consequences of the shelling. It was devastating, terrible, outrageous and tragic.
I thought about what would happen if they bombed New York, or if they bombed my house, because Lviv reminded me a lot of the city where I live."
We need help! #UK

Fifteen years ago today, the Belarus regime first arrested Ales Bialiatski, founder of @viasna96 & future Nobel Peace Prize laureate.
In total, he has spent more than 7 years in prison for defending human rights.
Ales is free now, but hundreds remain unjustly imprisoned.
Our sweet tiger Jules disappeared yesterday night, Sunday, August 2nd, around 11 PM. He was wearing a tracker which we found on the Nukkerbrug in Bredene-Sas. Our cat is microchipped and registered. We would really like our best friend back. If you see him, +32 490 60 21 39.
Today is Tony Bennett’s birthday. He was one of the most remarkable people who ever lived. Kind, caring, generous, and, like my dad, a pioneer in the fight for civil rights, using his voice to help make the world a better place.
On the 100th anniversary of his birth, I celebrate the memory of this dear man and all that he gave to us. Happy birthday in heaven, Tony. I love you. ❤️
I opened a blue tin of Danish butter cookies at an American grandmother's house.
There were no cookies in it.
There was sewing thread. Needles. A tape measure. Six buttons in a small bag. Two safety pins.
I closed it.
I did not say anything. I did not know what had happened. I assumed a household error.
Then I opened one at a different house, in a different state, four months later.
Sewing supplies.
Inside I said: THIS IS NOT A COINCIDENCE. THIS IS A CONVERSION THAT HAS OCCURRED ACROSS THE ENTIRE NATION WITHOUT COMMUNICATION.
I have since found seven.
Six contained sewing supplies. One contained batteries and screws, which I consider a related conversion.
Not one of them contained a cookie.
I asked a woman when the cookies were eaten.
She said, "Oh, God. The nineties?"
The tin has been in service for approximately thirty years. It is the container. The cookies were the delivery vehicle. Nobody has ever purchased the tin. It arrives as a gift, is emptied within a week, and then serves for three decades.
Inside I said: THE GIFT WAS CONSUMED IMMEDIATELY AND FORGOTTEN. THE VESSEL HAS OUTLIVED EVERYONE WHO ATE FROM IT.
I told a friend about my discovery. I was excited. I believed I had found something.
He said, "Yeah, everybody knows that."
Everybody knows. It is not a discovery. It is common knowledge that has never been stated because nobody has ever needed to state it.
Then he said something that stopped me.
He said, "It's not even an American thing."
I did not understand.
He said, "It's everywhere. Every country. Look it up."
I looked it up.
Grandmothers on six continents have converted this exact tin to this exact purpose. There are people in countries that have never traded with one another, who do not share a language or a religion or a border, and they have all independently decided that this blue tin is where the thread goes.
Inside I said: THERE IS NO TREATY. THERE HAS BEEN NO CONFERENCE. AND YET IT IS UNANIMOUS.
I have one now.
It has thread in it.
I do not sew.
Post yours. I want to see what is inside.
I needed to move a sofa.
I mentioned this to an American. He said, "You know anybody with a truck?"
I did not know anybody with a truck.
He looked at me with real concern. Not pity. Concern. The way you look at a man who has told you he does not have a name.
"You gotta know somebody with a truck."
I asked how one acquires such a person.
He said, "You just do."
This is the third time I have received that answer in this country. It is the answer to everything here. You just do. There is no process. There is only the eventual fact of having.
He said, "Ask Kevin."
I do not know a Kevin. He said Kevin like I should. He said it the way you say a shared uncle.
I met Kevin four days later. Kevin owns a truck. Kevin does not own a truck for himself. Nobody owns a truck for themselves. Kevin owns a truck for a fifteen mile radius.
Inside I said: THIS MAN HAS TAKEN A VOW. HE DID NOT ANNOUNCE IT. HE SIMPLY PURCHASED A BED AND ACCEPTED THE CONSEQUENCES.
Kevin arrived on Saturday. He brought the truck. He also brought a second man.
I had not asked for a second man.
The second man's name is Tony. Tony came because Kevin came. Tony did not know me. Tony did not ask what we were moving. Tony brought gloves.
They moved the sofa in eleven minutes.
I offered them money. Both of them laughed at the same time, which felt rehearsed and was not.
I asked what I owed them.
Kevin said, "Buy the pizza."
That is the price. That is the entire economy. The truck costs one pizza and the pizza is not negotiable and the pizza is also not expensive and everyone knows what size.
Inside I said: THE FEE IS FIXED ACROSS THE ENTIRE NATION AND WAS SET BY NO ONE.
We ate on the floor because the sofa was against the wall and none of us wanted to be the first to sit on it.
Tony told me his daughter plays soccer. I asked if she is good. He said, "She's aggressive."
I still think about that.
Three weeks later, Kevin texted me.
"You free Sunday? Helping Tony move a fridge."
He did not ask if I wanted to. He informed me of a fridge.
Inside I said: I HAVE BEEN CALLED UP. I DID NOT ENLIST. THE PAPERS WERE FILED ON MY BEHALF.
I went. I moved the fridge. I have no truck. I contributed only arms.
Afterward, a man I had never met asked me if I knew anybody with a truck.
I said, "Yeah, I got a guy."
I have a guy.
I am somebody's guy now, too. Tony has told two people about me.
He describes me as "the guy who's strong for his size."
I have never been prouder of a sentence in my life.
@newstartcats1 She sounds like a purrfect cat. Sadly, I'm across the pond and in no position to help. But contrary to my nature, i will think good thoughts about her finding the forever home that is fitting for her
It's heartbreaking but we've still had not even one single enquiry for Diamond!
Our plea may be echoing into the void but someone, somewhere, will love this girl for who she is. We have to believe that 💜
The new school year is almost here. A hungry child cannot really concentrate on learning.
We have to feed our children so our future is not under educated.
