Die israelische Botschaft und einige pro-israelische Einflussnehmer behaupten, eine neue UNICEF-Studie zeige, dass es in Gaza keine Hungersnot gibt und Kinder dort besser ernährt seien als in den Nachbarländern und Teilen Europas. Das ist falsch. Es wird eine gefälschte Grafik verbreitet. Auf Itidal Nachfrage stellt UNICEF unmissverständlich klar: „Es gibt keinen Zweifel an der Hungersnot in Gaza, die 2025 ausgerufen wurde“.

Die angebliche UNICEF-„Studie" existiert nicht. Es handelt sich um ein internes Cluster-Papier, ausdrücklich markiert als „vorläufige Ergebnisse zur Validierung". Der Bericht betont klar, Gaza nicht vollständig abdecken zu können. Die rund 358.000 Menschen in den gefährlichsten Zonen können nicht erreicht werden. Weder für Studien noch für humanitäre Hilfe.

Der Bericht, der angeblich die Hungersnot widerlegen soll, beschreibt tatsächlich eine anhaltende Katastrophe. 12,2 % der Kinder in den zugänglichen Gebieten seien chronisch mangelernährt. Das Papier schlussfolgert daraus eine „langanhaltende Ernährungskrise und wiederholte Aushungerung“. 37 % der Kinder hätten aufgrund mangelnder oder schlechter Ernährung Durchfall, ein Drittel Fieber. Nur 22 % der Kleinkinder bekämen eine minimal akzeptable Ernährung, bis zu 78 % hätten keinen Zugang zu gesunder Ernährung. Die erste im Papier genannte Priorität lautet, lebensrettende Ernährungshilfe aufrechtzuerhalten. Der Bericht spricht von einem Notstand und nicht von einer guten Lage.

Auf itidal-Nachfrage stellt UNICEF selbst klar: Die Feststellung der Hungersnot vom August 2025 hat Bestand, ein Rückgang akuter Mangelernährung seither wäre Folge der geleisteten Hilfe, kein Beweis, dass sie unnötig ist. Aktuell sind rund eine Million Kinder auf humanitäre Hilfe angewiesen, etwa 74.000 müssen wegen akuter Mangelernährung behandelt werden, betont UNICEF. Familien sind auf ein Drittel Gazas zusammengedrängt, zwischen zerstörten Gebäuden, Trümmern und Müll.
