Do not wait until a scholarship deadline to discover that your transcript takes two weeks to issue.

Create one application folder now. Put your CV, transcript, degree certificates, passport page, test scores, writing samples and a simple record of achievements inside it. Add a spreadsheet with deadlines, requirements, referees and submission status.

Then ask for references early.

A good referee still needs time. Send the programme details, your CV, the deadline and a short note about the work you hope they will highlight.

Many strong candidates lose opportunities to administration, not ability.

Preparation is less glamorous than the acceptance email. It is also what makes the email possible.
