Young dentists don't want to worry about the black and white of a contract that's never worked says @natb990
We need to ensure the next generation can see a future in the NHS.

"Today, when we needed clarity, the Government provided a full gamut of platitudes and half-truths," says @EddieCrouch
"Ministers keep saying they want an NHS dentist for everyone.
"There is still no evidence of any plan to make that happen.”

“The Minister said she wanted access for everyone on the NHS,” says @EddieCrouch
“But their actions don’t match their statements.”
If NHS dentistry is going to survive it will take ambition and urgency that’s been in short supply. @NuffieldTrust
These access problems are not inevitable.
The UK spends the smallest share of its health budget on dentistry of any European nation.
This is why NHS dentistry doesn't have a winter crisis.
Ours lasts 365 days a year...
📢 Nearly 2 years after the UK Soft Drink Industry Levy (Sugar Tax) came into force, we find a 12% relative reduction in NHS hospital admissions for tooth extraction in children aged 0-18 years. https://t.co/YYJBe50ll0
This is testament to the hard work and dedication of @NHSChildsmile teams; NHS dental practice teams and especially school and nursery staff. They work tirelessly to support our toothbrushing and F varnish programmes. Our target was 80% by 2024 #smashed Thanks all 👋👋
We welcome targeted supervised #toothbrushing plan for 3-5 yr olds. We need urgent action to address #OralHealth inequalities & this scheme is proven to deliver better oral health outcomes. We need to put a blanket of support around vulnerable children. https://t.co/ITJNlxXr0k
You only have to look at the current state of our health service, to realise that modern medicine, so good at treating acute illness but without as much attention on prevention and long-term illness, is failing our patients.
There is an inextricable rise in demand for medical care which is unsustainable. Unless things change, this situation will only get worse. And more and more patients will suffer.
As an A&E Dr, in many ways, I provide a sticky plaster to societal problems. We need to move our mindset from treatment to prevention of illness.
Only lifestyle changes can truly reduce demand and in the medium to long term preserve a healthy service for all and not just those lucky enough to afford private care.
Doing regular exercise is the single most important thing that anyone can do for their health and thus reduce demand on health care systems.
Two new studies have shown that even small amounts of exercise both for adults and kids can make a massive difference to both physical and mental wellbeing. In this week’s mail health article, these scientific papers are reviewed and the importance of exercise examined.
In summary, get out there, walk or jog; even small amounts are so good for you - you don’t have to do a 10K or a marathon. But if you want that as a goal, as the medical director of the @BrightonMarathn I can thoroughly recommend our races!
UK folks, super important. Photo ID will be required to vote for the next election, but University IDs won't work, risking the silencing of young voices. Students can now get a suitable photo ID for FREE from @nusuk 👇Please RT https://t.co/kBzUKfy04i
It's a mass closure, but it's only the tip of the iceberg.
NHS dentistry is a service built on sand.
Years of failed contracts and underfunding have taken their toll and more will inevitably follow.
Both govt and opposition need to wake up.

Absolutely outstanding work @BootsUK … please retweet #dentaltwitter, the more people that know about this initiative the better. A small caring step for a respected organisation like @BootsUK but one that can make a huge difference to the lives of many. Thank you 💙
