जब शिलॉन्ग में डॉ अब्दुल कलाम साहब की मौत हुई, तो पूरी दुनिया रोई। लेकिन असली तमाशा तो अगले दिन दिल्ली में हुआ।

लोग उनके कमरे का ताला खोलने पहुँ गये, सब देखना चाह रहे थे कि इतना बड़ा वैज्ञानिक, जो 40 साल तक सरकार के बड़े पदों पर रहा और 5 साल तक 'रायसीना हिल्स' (राष्ट्रपति भवन) का राजा रहा वो आख़िर कितनी संपत्ति छोड़कर गया है।

लेकिन जब कमरा खुला, तो सन्नाटा पसर गया।
वहां कोई तिजोरी नहीं थी। कोई लग्जरी कार की चाबी नहीं थी। कोई विदेशी बैंक का पासबुक नहीं था।

उस कमरे के कोने में पड़े एक छोटे से संदूक में बस ये मिला:
6 घिसी हुई शर्ट और 4 ट्राउजर (जिन्हें वो खुद धोते थे)।
3 पुराने सूट (एक तो राष्ट्रपति बनने के समय सिला था, वही 5 साल चला)।

1 कलाई घड़ी (जो वक्त की पाबंद थी, पर दिखावे से कोसों दूर)।
1 पुराना लैपटॉप और 1 वीणा।

और सबसे कीमती चीज़? 2,500 किताबें। बस! यही थी उस शख्स की कुल जमापूंजी जिसने भारत को परमाणु शक्ति बनाया।
हैरानी की बात जानते हैं क्या है?

अब्दुल कलाम ने अपनी पूरी जिंदगी की सैलरी और अपनी पेंशन तक 'PURA' नाम की संस्था को चुपचाप दान कर दी थी। जिस इंसान के एक दस्तखत पर देश का अरबों का बजट तय होता था, उसने अपने लिए एक इंच जमीन तक नहीं खरीदी।

आज हम 2000 के जूते और 5000 के चश्मे पहनकर खुद को रईस समझते हैं। लेकिन उस महापुरुष' ने बिना किसी ब्रांड के पूरी दुनिया को अपना मुरीद बना लिया।

कलाम साहब ने मरते-मरते भी हम सबको एक आईना दिखाया है— कि "इंसान अपनी हैसियत से नहीं, अपनी वसीयत (विचारों) से बड़ा होता है।"

अगर आज आपके पास रहने को छत और पहनने को कपड़े हैं, तो आप उस दिन के राष्ट्रपति से भी ज्यादा 'अमीर' हैं। पर क्या आपके पास उनके जैसा 'दिल' है?

इस महापुरुष की सादगी के सम्मान में एक 'नमन' तो बनता है।
इसे इतना शेयर करो कि हर उस इंसान तक पहुँचे जो आज पैसे और घमंड के नशे में चूर है। 🇮🇳

Question - Gurudev, you have spoken about the three kinds of devotees. Are there different flavors of masters as well?

@Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar ji - Yes, definitely!

History has seen many different types of masters. In fact they are all very unique and everybody is different. There are people with a little more Rajasic gun and a little Tamasic gun, while some are more sattvic.

The other day, I was mentioning, long ago in the early 80s when I was just around 23 or 24, I visited a saint on the outskirts of Delhi. This saint said to me, 'If it is 24-carat gold, you cannot make any ornaments out of it. You have to add some copper or something to it, only then does it become an ornament.'

He said, 'You too have to add something. You cannot be 24-carat gold, otherwise, you cannot be useful to everybody.'

I said, 'No Baba, let me be only 24 carat. Whatever happens, let it happen.'

He said, 'You can spread very fast. Why don't you learn about Tantra? Learn about some spirits and then you can control some spirits and do some magic.'

I said, 'I do not need to do any of these', I know they do not lead you to the highest. So there are people who do a little bit of these miracles, but it lasts only for a short period of time. Later on what happens is, the spirits from who you take work, they will take a toll on you.

All this lasts for a very short span of time, it is not something that stays with you.

That is why, Pure Sattvic knowledge, harmonious knowledge is the best, and it is long lasting. There is no tamo gun or rajo gun in that. The impact is permanent, long-lasting, and it takes you to the highest; nothing short of the highest.

This saint was a very nice saint, not that he was bad. He was very nice person. He was in his 70s or so in those days, and he just made a suggestion. When I said no, he really appreciated it, he said, 'Yes, this is good.'

Perhaps he wanted to test me to see if I could be tempted to do something.

Question - Gurudev, you have spoken a lot about Lord Shiva. Why do we see and worship Lord Shiva in the form of a Shiva Lingam?

@Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar - Lingam means identification, a symbol through which you can identify what the truth is, what the reality is. What is not visible but yet can be identified by one thing that is Lingam. When a baby is born, how do you know whether the baby is a male or female? Only through one part of the body can you identify whether this baby is a boy or a girl. Otherwise babies look alike until a certain age. But one part tells you what the future is. And that is the reason the genital is also called Lingam.

Similarly how do you identify the Lord of this Creation? He has no form. So then they said that there should be a sign to identify Him. So the sign, by which you identify both the male and female forms, combining them both to form one single symbol to identify the Lord who has no form or identity, who is all pervading in this entire Brahmanda (Creation), is Shiva Lingam.

That is why it is said, Namamishamishana Nirvanarupam Vibhum Vyapakam Brahmavedasvarupam.Nirvanarupam – He has no form or body; Vibhum – He is present everywhere; Brahmavedasvarupam – He is the personification of Supreme Knowledge.

See, how does internet work, how do telephones work? How do all these things work? In the space (Aaakasha), there is knowledge present in every particle. Here, right now, where we all are sitting, so many channels of the world are running, so many vibrations are present, so many e-mails are present right here. That is why when you open your computer and open your e-mail all those e-mails get downloaded into your computer.

All the characters that you type and send via SMS are present in this space! If you get angry at someone, that too stays in the space. If you congratulate someone, that too stays in the space. That is how all this gets transferred in another cell phone, and that is why in this space element (Akash tattva), knowledge is inherently present.

And not just of today but knowledge even from thousands of years back is present here. This very moment you can see what had happened thousands of years back and what is going to happen in the next thousand years; you can see all that because it is all written, all recorded in the space, and it is all present right here.

So how does one recognize that space element (Aakash tattva)? The ancient people kept a round stone and through it we remember the Creator.

Question - Gurudev, what brings satisfaction in life? Whatever I do finally does not bring great joy and contentment after a while.

#Gurudev @SriSri Ravi Shankar ji - The whole idea of finding satisfaction by doing something itself is not correct. Satisfaction comes from deep rest, by reposing deep within oneself. When you get established within your Self, then there is contentment. The satisfaction you think that comes by doing some work is very temporary and lasts only for a short while. If your work is successful, then you feel the need to do more work. When you get more success, then that again drives you to work more. You do not feel like stopping after having success. On the other hand, if you face some loss or failure in what you are doing, then also you feel, “Oh, how did it fail despite my efforts? I won’t give up; I will try again and succeed”. You feel challenged to do more. So you want to work more and work harder whether you get success or failure. And in this process the search for contentment continues. You keep searching for contentment when you are constantly engaged in work, or in action. It is only in knowledge that you can find your true contentment. Fulfilment or contentment lies only in wisdom, and in deep meditation, not in any work or action as such.
