"My genetics are bad" you say, ordering your third meal on Swiggy today.
Your grandfather walked 10 km daily and lived to 85.
You work from home and can't climb two floors without wheezing.
It's not genetics. It's food delivery apps.
Pakistan has once again proven that it’s a terrorist state — firing drones into civilian areas of Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir and Rajasthan. In my own state of Punjab, innocent civilians have been severely injured. The world needs to see how Pakistan is provoking India. Shameful and cowardly!

Let’s understand what’s absolutely wrong in this post :
• Navjyot kaur (who is herself a gynaecologist) was undergoing Chemotherapy for a 2nd stage invasive cancer .
• On 10th august @sherryontopp posted pictures of her undergoing 5th chemo and her treatment in a modern medicine hospital .
• She was being managed for supportive as well as pain palliative in a modern medicine hospital .
All the major treatment she received was of the evidence based medicine by a team of oncologists and Onco surgeons but then why are claims like “Defeated due to Ayurveda” are coming ?
Nobody has problem with Ayurveda , but being thankless to the actual treatment and showing how a supportive diet treatment is the reason behind the cure of a possible lethal disease is what makes me surprised and curious!
there's a reason why even folks hving no financial stability keep slogging for this bs exam forever

Every Deepavali brings with it a wave of nostalgia. A wistful longing for for the glorious days of the past. When I was a kid, Deepavali was such a huge part of my life, that it’s safe to say I lived from Deepavali to Deepavali.
We used to go to Madurai, each year for Deepavali for nearly 30 years. It was a kind of mandatory family get together. As the patriarch of the family, my grand father used to welcome his three sons – and their families. As the eldest grandson in the family, I loved the attention. As I grew older, Deepavali started growing smaller in our lives. Still we managed to cling on to the one constant in our lives.
We used to reach my grandparents’ home, on the day before Deepavali. We would be greeted by the best rava laddus and adhirasams made by grand ma. Within an hour or so, my cousins would reach too. While the elders would start talking about grown-ups stuff, we would sneak out to start bursting our crackers. There were crackers of all kinds.
I remember a Pondy special called ‘Ariyaankuppam’ cracker – it was a messy cracker that left my hands a silvery white. I loved it though – and I imagined myself to be the silver version of Midas. Then they banned it.
There was this curious one called ‘onion cracker’ – you had to throw it against a wall to burst it. I no longer find it in the shops – perhaps they banned it. So we improvised – take a couple of smallish iron disks, place a dot cap in the middle, tighten it with a screw slightly so that the dot caps are sandwiched. Then use it as a home made ‘vengaya Vedi’ – since we made it ourselves no one has banned it. Yet.
The night before Deepavali was a time for feverish last minute shopping. Since we used to exhaust the crackers in the morning ,it was a chance to buy again. I loved the trip to Vilakuthoon – the street was crowded as hell, but I almost felt like my soul merged into a sea of humanity there. Paradoxically I felt a strange sense of calm there.
The night before was also time for a cracker called Out (Avuttu). This one didn’t have a fuse thread- instead you had to peel the paper covering the cracker and light it up. It’s no longer found these days. Perhaps they banned it.
The Deepavali day started early – with an oil bath with shikakai powder. My granddad, used to keep a few drops of gingelly oil (prepared with fried pepper, cumin seeds (seeragam) and shallots (small onions). Even the shikakai powder of those days was different – it didn’t lather as much as I saw today.
It was customary to start the day with 1000 wala Sara vedi. My parents never got me the 10000 wala when I was young. I promised myself, that one day, I would become rich enough to blast a few 10000 walas. I wonder if they will ban the damn cracker before it happens. Oh wait - they already did.
This was followed by the usual green bombs, the Lakshmi vedi and even the occasional double shot in the morning. I never got tired of bursting crackers. After a few hours, I would walk to Periamma’s home nearby to burst even more crackers with cousins. There were a few businessmen nearby whose kids always had the money for thousand lights and other fancy crackers in the night. I instead launched my small rockets from empty Bovonto bottles.
The elders meanwhile watched the pattimandram (debate) – and Solomon Pappiah was as much a part of family as anyone else. I never understood the charm until I became much older.
I always used Cycle brand agarbathi to light crackers, feeling that the longish incense sticks were for wimps. For the same attempt at bravado, I used to resent the trousers and thought I deserved pants. I felt like trousers were an insult to my big boy image which I tried hard to cultivate. Things have reversed now – as far as trousers are concerned.

When I first started highlighting about the misuse of #Reservation, barely anyone was speaking out.
Social justice lobby was too powerful, crushing any voice. Now, thousands of GCs are fighting back!
Discrimination is real & finally, General category is united!

A student from the reserved category was admitted to the orthopaedic branch with a rank of 51,000. Will a student from the unreserved category be able to secure a spot with the same rank? No. I want to ask the average citizen: do you still believe that reservation is necessary for this country? Do you think an orthopaedic surgeon with a rank of 51,000 is qualified to operate on your body? I’m not suggesting that only unreserved doctors are the best; there are many reserved doctors who rank in the top 10,000 and are highly capable. It’s no surprise that this country is struggling—reservation is a significant reason for that.
