She had to leave school at 9 to care for her siblings.
Then came marriage, widowhood and the responsibility of raising six children alone.

For decades, education remained a dream she could not return to.
Then, at 105, she got another chance.

Through Kerala’s State Literacy Mission, she enrolled in the Class 4 equivalency programme and began studying again, nearly a century after leaving school.

Because of her age, she wrote the examination from home over three days.

She scored 205 out of 275, including a perfect 75/75 in Mathematics.

Her achievement made her the oldest learner in the Kerala State Literacy Mission to clear the equivalency examination and earned her the Nari Shakti Puraskar.

She may have left school at 9, but she never left her dream of learning behind.
