Anjanadri Hill stands as the birthplace of Hanuman. Anegundi stands as Kishkindha, the very capital of the Vanara kingdom. The hills of Rishyamukha hold the memory of Sugriva in exile from Vali. Gokarna anchors the theology of Ravana and the Atmalinga, a moment that shapes his very being within Hindu theology. These are not optional interpretations. These are foundational elements of Hindu theology embedded in the land of Karnataka.
The growing obsession with dividing India into Aryan and Dravidian fragments is not scholarship. It is intellectual decay. It emerges from a shallow reading of history, a fragmented understanding of epics, and a complete inability to grasp Hindu theology as an interconnected civilizational system. Hindu theology does not function through these divisions. Hindu theology dissolves them.
Without Karnataka, there is no Kishkindha. Without Kishkindha, there is no alliance between Rama and Sugriva. Without that alliance, there is no Vanara Sena. Without the Vanara Sena, there is no journey to Lanka and no victory. This is not poetry alone. This is theology in its most structural form. Karnataka is not a peripheral setting in this theology. Karnataka is the engine that makes the Ramayana possible.
Hindu theology recognises continuity. Hindu theology recognises sacred geography. Hindu theology recognises that Ayodhya, Kishkindha, and Rameswaram are not separate worlds but a single unfolding arc of meaning. Karnataka stands at the centre of that arc. Karnataka cannot be removed from this theology without collapsing the narrative itself.
Karnataka is and will remain a proud Hindu land because it is inseparable from the very theology that defines the Ramayana.
