Combat is least about rules - it is about ferocity, imagination, doing the unexpected. There is no rulebook for romance, if there were one, there would be no romance, or it would be so bloody boring
The ethos for both romance and combat are the same - trust, loyalty, fidelity, belief, a devil may care attitude, a split second decision
Am a helicopter pilot myself. I can imagine the pilot making the most of one exhilarating moment (getting his wings) to create another (propose to his sweetheart)
I also know my Army. Those at the helm understand the difference between what is at worst a ery minor indiscretion and gross infractions.
If people were to be punished for such minor indiscretions, we would have had neither a Sam (Manekshaw) or a Sagat (the architect of the Dash to Dacca). What made them such iconic leaders, was a gross contempt for babudom and petty rules
So. let the matter rest, please. YOUNGSTER HAI, ZALIM NAHI
You want the young officer to sacrifice his life for the love of the Nation, but you don’t want him to express his love for his fiancée.
In the Army we say ‘Youngster nahi karega, toh kaun karega’.
If you can not find a fault in his professional capabilities, don’t do this nuktachini for such a pure gesture of love and belonging.
Military equipment has been on display during many ‘Know your Army’ exhibitions around the country. The students and non military personnel have clicked pics with it showing pride and love for the Army. So, please don’t bring in the national security angle into this.
Let the young soldier do his national duty with pride and honour 👍
Jai Hind 🇮🇳
Capt Bhardwaj went a little further than he should have, but it's silly at worst. There's really no need to make a mountain out of a molehill.
The young Captain had just earned his wings as a combat helicopter pilot after rigorous training. In a burst of emotion after the Passing Out Parade, he proposed to his girlfriend. It happened in uniform, with a helicopter in the backdrop and family/colleagues cheering.
Romantic and human- Absolutely.
But also- inappropriate in terms of protocol and discipline.
The Army quite rightly is displeased. However, this will likely end with an interview with the boss without the chair and the tea. He would be given a rap on the knuckles- and that should be it.
Remember- we are willing to send our young into the harm’s way without hesitation- in return, we should be willing to accommodate a bit of antics.
Discipline is the spine of the Army, while the human spirit is its soul. When troops storm the gates of hell- they are not driven by the discipline rather the spirit.
A dash of personality doesn’t weaken the force- it keeps it alive. I am not sure about the Army, but in the Air Force young officers have gotten away with much worse.
Capt Bhardwaj will almost certainly take the rap on the knuckles, in the right spirits, learn the lesson, and go on to fly with distinction.
Let’s not overdo the outrage- our Army can handle a romantic moment.
Jai Hind.
A soldier proposed to the woman he loves at his passing out parade. One of the most significant days of his life. And people are angry.
This is what dead inside looks like. Any public expression of love is suddenly performative, inappropriate, attention seeking. We have collectively become so hollow that genuine human emotion makes us uncomfortable and critical.
We expect our defence personnel to bleed on borders, stay away from families for months, miss births and deaths and anniversaries without complaint. But one man choosing the happiest moment of his career to also choose the person he loves and suddenly it is a violation of some sacred code nobody wrote down.
Let the soldier be human. Not everything is a performance. Sometimes it is just a person who survived the hardest training of his life and wanted the woman he loves standing next to him at the finish line. If that bothers you, the problem is entirely yours.
Breaking News:
India's self-appointed supreme Council of Outrage has discovered a new national security threat: an Army officer proposing to his fiancée in front of a helicopter.
Not operational readiness. Not border security. Not military strategy.
Just a sweet, sincere proposal.
Apparently, there are now thousands of civilian experts who have never worn a uniform, never commanded troops, and never been responsible for military assets, but are suddenly qualified to lecture the Army on its protocols.
Here's a radical idea: if there was a breach of protocol, perhaps the Army is fully capable of determining that itself. And if there wasn't, perhaps the outrage industry can survive without manufacturing another crisis.
The Indian Army has spent decades building one of the world's most respected military institutions. It probably doesn't need social media juries conducting disciplinary hearings based on a 30-second clip.
By all means, have an opinion. But maybe leave military regulations, asset usage, and disciplinary standards to the people who actually write, enforce, and live by them.
Not every helicopter in a photograph is a national emergency. Sometimes a proposal is just a proposal.
The Army can defend the borders. It doesn't need defending from every trending hashtag.

This new narrative started 24 hours after the death of Tarun, when Muslims saw that Hindus had united. Why was there no information about molestation from the start? This people are so hateful that they have together started a new propaganda campaign and soon you will see people like Zubair and Arfa posting the same fake things.
I want to ask @gupta_rekha@CMODelhi ji that you speak so big words on Nari Shakti but this mother has been wailing for her son’s justice. What have you done to serve justice? The video of hate and brutality has been captured in a cctv showing he was lynched and murdered by Muslims.
Where is your governance? What’s stopping you to punish the culprits?
Remembering the brave heroes who laid down their lives in Pulwama on this day in 2019. Their devotion, resolve and service to the nation remain forever etched in our collective consciousness. Every Indian draws strength from their enduring courage.

If you see any Journalist or Activist defending or crying for Terrorists like Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam; show them this 2min Video - Openly asking Muslims to cut-off India's North East.

Seven months later, parents continue to await justice.
Who are the police protecting?
The CCTV footage was given to the parents four months after the incident after a high court order.
The initial footage shown by the principal was “limited and edited”.
