Jai Hind

The judicial custody of #AshutoshRanka and #SauravDas must be urgently reviewed and they must be released immediately.

Hoisting the National Flag, even in a prohibited area, should not warrant such prolonged detention. The judiciary and the executive must rise to the occasion to ensure that the youth of this country do not lose faith in the rule of law and constitutional rights.

[Dhruv Rathee @dhruv_rathee]

Gangsters and rapists are roaming free in the country

And activists are being jailed. Mother of democracy!

Release Saurav and Ashutosh now!

[Rajdeep Sardesai @sardesairajdeep]

IMPORTANT: the judicial custody of Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das extended by two days. Delhi Police wanted 5 days because of fear of protest call during festive season. Beyond ABSURD. 7 days custody needed for violating prohibitory orders? This is designed only to instil fear in young hearts and minds but may have just the opposite effect. 🙏

[Shashi Tharoor @ShashiTharoor]

It’s been six days since this remarkable woman of Indian origin (see her story, attached) won the #NobelPeacePrize. And the Government of India, her ancestral homeland, hasn’t so much as congratulated her?! Shame on the petty men who have made such a deplorable decision.

[Rajdeep Sardesai @sardesairajdeep]

ASTONISHING: CJP’s Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das still in judicial custody for trespass and violation of prohibitory orders while waving the tricolour at Jantar Mantar (not an act of violence by any reckoning), and Hindu Raksha Dal members who were caught on camera beating protestors out on bail (an act of brazen goondaism). Yeh hai kanoon??😡

[Dhruv Rathee @dhruv_rathee]

Narendra Modi is crossing all limits of brutality.

These are Ankita Bhandhari’s parents. Ankita was a girl who was murdered by the same system. Now they’re not sparing her parents either.

[Sabeer Bhatia @sabeer]

Arnab Goswami proudly calls himself a nationalist. But nationalism is not a performance, and shouting louder doesn’t make one more patriotic. If there were a lifetime achievement award for fakery masquerading as patriotism, he’d be my nominee.

[Rahul Gandhi @RahulGandhi]

Waving the Tricolour at Jantar Mantar in a peaceful protest is not a crime. Jailing youth for it is an act of cowardice.

Students. Youth. Journalists. The INDIA bloc. Different banners, one cause. All protests are one: citizens demanding their constitutional rights.

Jantar Mantar belongs to the people of India. We will reclaim it.

Alarming: on the day the Supreme Court ordered the police to allow journalists to do their job, Delhi Police bundle a woman reporter into the van. This despite her and us repeatedly telling the police that she’s with the media, and showing her badge.

[Rajdeep Sardesai @sardesairajdeep]

THINK: A young man loses his grandmother, is reportedly offered by Delhi police to go for last rites (as per police) .
BUT fact is, he is still in detention. No clarity on where he is, when he will be released, why was he picked up by the police from an airplane in the first place when he hadn’t broken any law. Doesn’t Abhijit Dipke @abhijeet_dipke and many other young people like him have the same rights as every Indian citizen? 🙏

[Cockroach Janta Party - CJP @Cockroachisback]

🚨 THIS IS AN EMERGENCY 🚨

IT HAS BEEN 10 HOURS SINCE DELHI POLICE ABDUCTED ABHIJEET DIPKE ASHUTOSH RANKA AND SAURAV DAS.

WE STILL DON’T KKOW WHERE THEY ARE, WE HAVE NO CONTACT WITH THEM.

WHERE IS DELHI POLICE HOLDING THEM? HOW CAN IT BE ACCEPTABLE TO ABDUCT SOMEONE LIKE THIS?

[UN Human Rights @UNHumanRights]

#India: We are concerned by reports of mass detentions of demonstrators, protest leaders, members of civil society organisations, lawyers and journalists, before and during today’s large-scale demonstrations in Delhi.

We call on the authorities to ensure that the right to peaceful assembly is fully respected and fulfilled.

[Sabeer Bhatia @sabeer]

The Delhi Police’s arrest of Abhijeet Dibke aboard a plane appears to be a blatant abuse of power. What law did he break? If he committed no crime, on what grounds was he arrested? Police authority is meant to uphold the law, not intimidate citizens.

[Priyanka Gandhi Vadra @priyankagandhi]

First they rough up 254 MPs and detain them completely illegally, infringing on their basic constitutional rights; they do the same to other protestors from Opposition parties.

Then they lay siege to the national capital, barricading it and sealing it on all sides, stopping trains and metros, cutting the internet and placing check posts all over. They bash up and detain young men and women exercising their constitutional right to protest.

If this isn’t proof that they have cheated the elections with the collusion of the Election Commission, and are terrified that the illegitimacy of their government is being exposed and accountability is being demanded, then what is?

India is not a democracy anymore. It is a dictatorship being run by Mr. Narendra Modi and Mr. Amit Shah.

All those who are colluding with them to subvert democracy are committing treason against the nation.

[Priyanka Chaturvedi🇮🇳 @priyankac19]

Gyanesh Kumar is such a prized asset for the government that they have shut down the national capital. Shouldn’t the CEC take moral responsibility and step down? Such a shame that he continues while the youth are protesting across the length and breadth of the country against him.

[The DeshBhakt 🇮🇳 Akash Banerjee @TheDeshBhakt]

🚨Modi Govt has the resources to airlift 12,000 paramilitary personnel to Delhi - to fight cockroaches & save Gyanesh
🚨But 2500 CRPF personnel were denied airlift in a sensitive zone - leading to 40 of our brave being martyred in the Pulwama attack.
🚨 Karma will hit back soon.

[Helle Lyng @HelleLyngSvends]

I wonder how arresting the most popular and uniting youth leader will play out for @narendramodi

[Rahul Gandhi @RahulGandhi]

Welcome to India, Elon.

Wait till you discover the other guy.
