IPS Kuttikat Jayaraman's biggest "crime" was arresting IAS officer Godala Kiran Kumar.

The year was 2013. Mamata Banerjee and the All India Trinamool Congress government had been in power for barely two years when reports of a massive scam surfaced from the Siliguri-Jalpaiguri Development Authority Board — allegedly worth nearly ₹200 crore.

At that time, Malda District Magistrate IAS Godala Kiran Kumar was serving as the Chief Executive Officer of the board. Naturally, suspicion pointed towards him.

IPS officer Kuttikat Jayaraman was then the Police Commissioner of Siliguri.

As Commissioner, Jayaraman conducted his own investigation and boldly arrested Malda's DM, IAS officer Kiran Kumar. Much like IPS officer Damayanti Sen, perhaps he too had not yet realized that after 2011, the rule of the ruling party had effectively become the law in the state.

Soon, a summons came from Nabanna.

It is said that when Jayaraman reached Nabanna, some police officers escorted him to the lift and advised him what to say and how to behave on the 14th floor.

But Jayaraman ignored the bootlickers, climbed the stairs straight to the 14th floor, and with his spine still straight, replied directly to then Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee:

"I did not feel the need to seek permission, so I didn't. I did what I believed was right. There is no question of stepping back."

The result of such a direct reply was exactly what you are thinking -- yes, he was suspended.

But why would he bow down? Before becoming an IPS officer, he had served seven years in the Air Force. People trained with the spirit of "Nation First" are not meant to lick slippers.

The corrupt regime of "Pishi and Bhaipo" mistook him for someone who would surrender easily.

Anyway, now our current Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has called him back. Know why?

Because Jayaraman will now assist Biswajit Basu in fighting institutional corruption.

আমি চাই, বোন অভয়ার প্রকৃত দোষীরা দ্রুত চিহ্নিত হোক, কঠোরতম শাস্ত�� পাক এবং বাংলার মানুষ ন্যায়বিচার প্রত্যক্ষ করুক।
