NASENI, NIMC to Partner on Asset Restoration, Renewable Energy and Infrastructure Development

The Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure ( @NASENIHQ ), Khalil Suleiman Halilu ( @kshalilu ) , has visited the Director General/CEO of the National Identity Management Commission (@nimc_ng), Engr. Abisoye Coker-Odusote (@EngrAbisoye) , to explore potential areas of collaboration between both agencies.

The visit, which forms part of NASENI’s engagement with key federal institutions, focused on the Agency’s National Asset Restoration Programme and other areas of mutual interest such as renewable energy deployment, digital infrastructure, and locally engineered solutions.

Mr. Halilu expressed satisfaction with the warm reception and enthusiasm shown by the NIMC leadership, stating that “partnerships like this are critical to achieving President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and ensuring Nigerian institutions are powered by sustainable, homegrown solutions.”

He noted NASENI’s readiness to support NIMC in restoring moribund assets, deploying renewable energy to its facilities, and providing engineering support to enhance service delivery.

In her response, the NIMC DG welcomed the collaboration and lauded NASENI’s innovative approach to national development, saying, “We are glad to align with NASENI on practical, forward-thinking solutions that can improve our efficiency and reduce operational costs.”

The meeting ended with both agencies agreeing to set up a joint technical team to explore implementation frameworks.

NAF, NASENI sign MOU to deepen indigenous innovation for defence, aerospace development

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) on 25 July 2025 signed a renewed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at expanding indigenous research, development, and innovation. The signing took place during a visit by the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, to the Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NASENI, Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, at the Agency’s Headquarters in Abuja.

Commenting on the significance of the new MoU, Air Marshal Abubakar noted that it introduces “more refined provisions that will ensure seamless, structured, and result-driven cooperation.” According to him, the MoU covers joint research and development, human capacity building, local production of aerospace parts, and strategic co-development of defence technologies. “This renewed partnership aligns perfectly with the Presidential priority on innovation, defence self-reliance, and indigenous capacity development, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda for a more secure and prosperous Nigeria,” he added.

In his response, NASENI’s Executive Vice Chairman, Mr Khalil Halilu, expressed the Agency’s full commitment to the renewed partnership. “We are not just ready, we are prepared to co-develop technologies that will support NAF’s operations and industrial capacity,” he said. “Together, we can move from importation to innovation, and from consumption to creation.” The visit marks a milestone in Nigeria’s quest for technological sovereignty in defence and a bold commitment by both institutions to harness science, engineering, and innovation as enablers of national strength and socio-economic growth.
