I hope you realise if my partner were to come, the child care she could provide would free me up to work full-time and get a higher paid employment. As a non uk national she would not be able to claim benefits and would pay forward to use NHS services.

I work a part time job,working around 26 hours per week, I have to use the wrap around care at his school so I'm able to do this, but also claim UC as a top up. I don't earn enough under current guidelines to bring my partner over. How will raising the threshold help me

@IanDunt It's tough enough. Being a single dad with estranged partner. Raising the threshold for me would keep us apart. If she could come over I'd be able to get a full time better paid job. As child care would be taken care of.I know purely British born families who earn less.

@IanDunt This is bonkers. As a british man who's partner is Indonesian we have a son together(he has a British passport) he's 4 years old, I'm his sole carer in the uk.He attends reception class at school. The struggle is child care and a job that's flexible enough to work around school
