in another interview, Tsai Chiayin also revealed that #SunQian herself said she didn’t want there to be any male gaze in #TheEarlySpring
(t/n: male gaze refers to portraying women from a male perspective, often framing them as objects of sxual attraction)

Sunqian said: “I don’t want there to be any male gaze in our drama.”
There was one particular scene where they were filming, and Qian noticed something and said, “Isn’t this maybe a little… 👀?”
So they immediately sat down with Qian, the cinematographer, and the director and discussed it together.

Some dramas focus the camera on an actress’s chest, thighs, or other body parts for an unnecessarily long time, turning her body into something for the audience to look at rather than part of the character or story.

And I really appreciate that they actually listened to her concern and discussed it together instead of simply saying, that’s just how the scene is shot. the fact that the actor can also act as a check on the camera and the way a scene is presented feels really important.
