today marks half a year.

half a year since we decided that what happened was not something we could simply accept, forget about or move past.

and more than anything today, i just want to say thank you.

thank you to every single person who is still here. to everyone who stayed firm even when this became exhausting, frustrating, lonely or incredibly difficult. to everyone who kept boycotting when it would have been much easier to give in, look away, or convince themselves that enough time had passed.

thank you to those who kept speaking. to those who kept reminding people why we started. to those who participated loudly and to those who quietly kept doing their part too.

half a year is truly a long time.

when this started, i don’t think any of us imagined we would reach this point still having to fight for the same things. i certainly didn’t. we have gone through anger, disappointment, uncertainty, disagreements, exhaustion, hope and probably moments where all of us wondered how much longer we could keep doing this.

and yet, you stayed.

i don’t think i can properly put into words how much respect i have for that.

because behind every tag, every stream you chose not to give, every conversation, every reminder and every decision not to financially support what we are protesting, there was a person consciously choosing not to forget.

we haven’t always agreed on everything and we were never going to. we are different people, we process things differently and we express our feelings differently. but what has kept so many of us connected all this time is something much bigger than complete agreement: we cared enough not to become indifferent.

so today, i really just want to appreciate everyone who is still standing here.

thank you for staying when staying became uncomfortable.
thank you for continuing even when the momentum faded.
thank you for refusing to let time erase the reasons we started.
thank you for loving them enough to believe they deserve better, and for understanding that supporting them does not mean silently accepting everything done around them.
