Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for the Palestinian Civil Defence in Gaza, addresses the world to say that since the beginning of June 2026 alone, the Israeli occupation army has killed thirty-six Palestinians inside the Gaza Strip, among them three children and six women. He speaks of the families left behind, who continue to live with the pain, grief, and psychological weight of losing their loved ones, and questions whether the world has not yet had enough of the killing, the destruction, and the death being inflicted on Gaza.

His message comes more than seven months into a so-called ceasefire announced on 10 October 2025, which the Israeli occupation army has continued to violate on a near-daily basis through airstrikes, drone attacks, and ground fire, killing more than 947 Palestinians and wounding over 2,935 since the agreement took effect. Basal calls on every living conscience and every human being still capable of moral judgement to stand against the injustice and the killing that continues, unbroken, inside the Gaza Strip.

Crazy that this is getting barely any coverage. This year’s European Press Prize was just awarded to an investigative report by the Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant. It is entitled “What the Wounds Tell” and in it the journalists Maud Effting and Willem Feenstra document the cases of 114 children in Gaza under the age of 15 who were struck by a single bullet to the head or chest. Almost all of them died or were left severely disabled. They chose to document only the cases of boys and girls under the age of 15 (though often much younger: aged 3, 4 or 7) because these are children who can be immediately identified as such. “A single bullet in these parts of the body is a clear indication that these children were deliberately targeted“, the two journalists write.

This will be one for the history books. The Iranian government is holding the line to defend Lebanese sovereignty even at a cost to its own interests. At the same time, the Lebanese government is signing a surrender deal with the very US-Israel Axis that is attacking, invading, occupying, and subjugating it, surrendering its territory to the invading army, promising to disarm the country’s only resistance on behalf of the invading Axis, and signing a declaration attacking the Iranian government that is defending it. Marshal Pétain has returned from the grave.
