One thing about living on the Florida coast is that the restaurants with great views make the food taste even better. Last night we dined at the marina, and being able to see the water so often is what I love about our area. Gotta love Florida!
I decided a few months ago to stop following the news. Now when people say stuff to me like “Can you believe this bullshit?” I’m like “I don’t know and I don’t care.” It’s 100% free to not fucking care about whatever you’re supposed to be pissed about and the results are amazing.
@iamjoelee Totally. This absolute masterpiece has everything that's missing from the world right now. Perfectly imperfect, choreographic timing so slick, all grit, no edits, and that beat... too fucking good.
This is why AI slop will never beat human creativity.
Watching GENER8TION x Yung Lean perform this live on VMAs is just mind blowing.
It's a shame Storm didn't win despite being nominated for Video of the Year and Best Long Form Video.
This piece of collaborative contemporary art should have swept.
But it's proof that awards are engineered by a system for most part that rewards certain acts no matter how mundane or mediocre.
@myboybill1 Ok. In the most liberal county in the state the jury unanimously found no probable cause to move forward with any case. Zero evidence. Unsurprising smear. DeSantis has been lied about for years. Nothing new.
Almost 4 years ago, the day following the 2022 Midterm elections, the day we decided to give up on our “forever home” in Connecticut, and relocate our family to The Free State of Florida, was the day the trajectory of our lives changed forever. The Sunshine State was a beacon of hope, a safe haven of normalcy, and was run by the most principled politician I have ever known @GovRonDeSantis . As your second term comes to a close, I want you to know how thankful we are for everything you have accomplished.
The COVID years were dark times. I still can’t believe what we all lived through (the mass-brainwashing, lockdowns, loss of individual liberty), and how my outlook on the world was forever transformed. Learning the corruption that had been there, but how it came to light only when I was forced to confront it for the sake of my small children.
A couple of instances that are ingrained in my memory and that reinforced our impetus to flee the state we called home for almost a decade:
A few days after the first 2-week lockdown, my family of five, which included a toddler, two preschoolers, my husband and I, went to our town beach to hang out and get out of the house. We were directed by arrow signs to walk around a pointless orange fence to enter the sandy beach a quarter mile from the parking lot (as not to walk in the opposite direction of someone who might be leaving the beach). We came to an empty stretch, after passing zero other people, and my toddler sat down to touch the sand (as any toddler would do). Within seconds, a security guard ran over frantically to tell us that we couldn’t sit down there. “What?” I said. “There’s no one else here. What is the difference if we are sitting or standing?” I noticed a pregnant woman about 50 feet away, sitting by herself. “Please don’t make that woman stand up,” I said to the security guard. I don’t remember how long we ended up staying at the beach that day because all I could think about was “How is this happening? What the fuck is going on? This is all just absolute insanity!”
Fast-forward to the following year or later (I still have a very hard time figuring out how many months or years went by between all the life-changing, nonsensical updates in rules and mandates) I was at some point FINALLY permitted to enter the elementary school where my oldest started Kindergarten (masked and social-distanced, of course). The school was now allowing parents to visit at lunchtime (a normal occurrence pre-Covid). I watched as a cleaning crew sprayed “disinfectant” into the air in the cafeteria, in between lunch periods, with a tank and hose. The custodians were wearing hazmat suits and spraying toxic chemicals that my son (and I) would be inhaling 10 minutes later. The particles filled the room and settled on the surfaces. I watched the relief on the faces of other moms who felt “safer”. I was HORRIFIED that all of these people felt safer breathing in bleach than just opening some windows for fresh air, and even more alarmed that these parents were still scared to catch COVID.
I didn’t sit quietly. I wrote frequent opinion pieces in the local newspapers, went on TV twice, and helped rally a small, but determined group of like-minded people working tirelessly in our town to attempt to make things normal again. Soon though, it became crystal clear we would never win. Common sense lost the midterms down the whole ballot after two years of fighting the COVID circus. That was it for me. There was no more time to waste. My children were young and we had to let them live free. Not to mention, I was personally getting tired of the dirty looks and negativity thrown my way because I was one of the vocal people who stood up for what was right. Why didn’t people smile anymore? I experienced an overwhelming sense that I didn’t belong there and there had to be a brighter place for my family.
@RonDeSantis , We are eternally grateful for the good you did for We The People. Your principled approach– fearless, tireless, and completely competent– was so necessary during that time. You have changed so many lives for the better. You have paved the way for others to follow your lead. You stood up to the insanity and continue to do so as the rest of the world comes up with new ways to control us.
Florida has welcomed us from DAY 1. Our community here is growing each year with families just like ours who left blue states to soak in the freedom that all American patriots deserve to feel. Without your leadership, this wouldn’t be possible. You have gigantic shoes to fill. We have hope that your legacy will be upheld, and you will go on to do bigger and better things for the rest of the patriots across this country.
Shoutout to some other Florida rockstars 🙌@FLSurgeonGen@AGJamesUthmeier@GovGoneWild@CaseyDeSantis
It was always common sense from day one. It took a decade, literally tens of millions in litigation costs across multiple states, a Supreme Court decision, the defeat of an incumbent President, and an iconic viral moment for the ages to summon up the wherewithal to state a basic reality that should never have not been the dominant consensus for even a moment
