Grunge icon Chris Cornell, 52, dies while on tour. Best known as Soundgarden’s frontman, the Seattle-born singer helped shape the city’s rock scene starting in the mid-1980s. Cornell was also the lead vocalist of Audioslave and had a successful solo career. His death was ruled a suicide by hanging. He left behind a powerful legacy of raw emotion, wide vocal range, and introspective songwriting that influenced generations of musicians.
