I want to be excited for an Ava DuVernay New Gods movie but it already starts with a major handicap since Justice League pissed away the concept of Mother Box as a dumb evil macguffin. Like how do you not make it a cool living smartphone that takes care of you?!?

@AaronSmarter Jack Kirby's New Gods is one of my favorite comic series of all time and I am both excited for Ava to bring it to the screen and at the same time sad that it has to be part of *this* DC Extended Universe or whatever they are calling it

@cgtzeno Yes! In Kirby's comics there is always the insistence that Mother Box is "alive" and I think he meant it in this mystical, religious way — like she had a soul or a life force and was mythologically more than machinery. Animated by something spiritual.
