Elementary kids shouldn’t have more than an hour or two of work per day. That’s it. That’s all they need. Many miss teachers. Some are scared & anxious. & they just want their parents to be parents right & not feel like they have to be the education warden. Focus on play & family
The first ever #rcsdchampions US History Video contest was a huge success. Loved seeing our RCSD 8th graders use all 4Cs to create videos that answered how the US Constitution shapes everyday life. 200 submissions, 14 finalists, and then 4 overall winners.
17 yrs ago, I had little patience for a boy named Cedric. He was defiant and belligerent. He was what we called, “hard.” One day in my office, I asked him what his challenges in life were. He said, “I don’t have anyone to take care of me.” This is a moment I will never forget.

Some teachers seem like naturally gifted educators. They may well be… but that doesn’t mean they don’t work really hard at it. People don’t just show up exceptional… they make a commitment to do whatever it takes… to BE exceptional.
@alicekeeler I think the only reason teachers started doing that is that Classroom defaults to 11:59pm. I've started making everything due the next morning at 9am. That seems to take pressure off kids to stay up late working.
