Christ did not teach that He would impose His teachings upon the fallen world. He called His disciples to Him and taught them, and everywhere throughout His teachings there is the overt or implied idea that His followers will constitute an unpopular minority group in an actively hostile world. 

The Church isn't of Society.
It is an Anti-Society.

Refusing to vote for a candidate because they're not a worldly reflection of your "Christian" values doesn't make you more Christian.

It makes you more worldly and carnal.

It subsumes the standard of the eternal and exchanges it for the ephemeral.

It binds you to the Society you were called to reject.
