At the very least, they can just voice major cutscenes and have the rest be read-only
Plenty of games do this and I don't understand why some fans are so against that
@BuudhistPastor yes, but the way you win in vgc and the way you win in a casual playthrough are so radically different that conflict between competitive players and casual players is Inevitable.
this is because the ethos of pokemon is entirely at odds with the way the game is played at high competitive levels
in the text of the game, you only need to believe in your favorite pokemon to win
in competitive, your fav gets stomped by incineroar no matter what you do
the more discussion i see on competitive pokemon the more its clear to me that the average casual fan holds a deep contempt for competitive gaming but still wants to engage with it for some reason. which is something i already knew but its weird to see it in action
@BuudhistPastor this is why casuals have it out for competitive players. within the causal players mind, the vgc player is playing the game wrong by betraying the ethos that the game espouses in its own narrative.
@BuudhistPastor i’m talking about the fantasy the game sells you. why do you think casuals bring up the karen quote all the time?
the power fantasy is that your pokemon is Your Best Friend and you can get through Anything together. which isn’t how it works in vgc, where your favs probably suck.
